Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Get the 3-D glasses and put them on before opening the pages of this catalog of horrible creatures. First on the list are vampires—those ugly blood sucking beasts. Learn the telltale signs to help identify vampires and how to avoid becoming one of their victims. Vampires have superhuman senses and strength so it takes a lot to dispatch them. There is a display of tools that should be in every vampire hunter's kit. What could be more horrible, perhaps the zombies—reanimated corpses with their own tell-tale signs—diseased flesh, stumbling walk, and vacant staring eyes. To protect against these creatures, put a zombie survival kit under the bed. As one can imagine zombies like vampires have been written about or featured in oral tales going back to ancient times. Last but not least are the werewolves. The diagram identifies the characteristics of this dangerous beast and the text reminds readers to keep silver bullets handy. The 3-D glasses make all these creatures jump off the pages, but if the glasses are lost, there is enough material to still make the book enjoyable for those who like looking at gore and reading about beastly beings.
