Children's LiteratureThree individual books have been combined to make one large board book. In each of the offerings, excellent photographs fill the pages. Kids will find full-page images of the vehicles with their names and a few facts. Each page poses a question. The train book broadens horizons because it brings together pictures of trains from around the world but, with no surprise, not too many from the US, where train service has been on the wane. Rescue vehicles seem to be fascinating. There are fire trucks, police cars, helicopters, motorcycles, boats, and even horses. The final spread shows the people who man all of these vehicles, many in full rescue gear. A lot of information is packed into this book. It can probably be enjoyed by older kids who lack fine motor skills, as well as kids who just want to know more about the world around them. 2005, St Martin's Press, Ages 2 to 8.
