Knitting Calendar

I would never have thought that there would actually be 365 different kinds of knit stitch patterns, but this nice perpetual calendar has not only the stitches, but a nice section with instructions for some of the special stitches. I thought I would try to at least make up a sample of a project to see if the instructions are easy to follow. Just picking a page at random, I decided to try April 4 which is the Stockinette Triangles. This one was an easy one with multiples of 5 stitches and 6 rows and worked up quickly. Although the one I tried was an easy one, there are stitch designs for all skill levels. The possibilities are endless with dozens of cable stitches, twist stitches, laces, and bobbles, woven style, and so much more. Because this is a perpetual calendar, you can buy it any time of the year and use it year after year. This stand-up desk calendar has a very sturdy base and heavy duty double spiral binder. This would make a nice addition to a craft room, office desk or a gift for a knitter.

    A must for any knitter!

This book is a great tool for any knitter who likes to play with different textures. It has a wide variety of stitch patterns and it is fun to find the perfect stitch to match a project or yarn. There are great photographs of each stitch and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

    365 Knit patterns

We all need a calendar to keep our days straight. What better way than with one that also gives you a different knitting stitches each and every day?

This 6¿ x 5¿ stand-up desk calendar begins with a list of abbreviation definitions. You know, things like K = Knit and yf = yarn forward. It continues with a list of Special Instructions such as the definition of Cable 3 left and Cross 2 right.

Now you actually begin the year. Each day has a color photo of a knitted swatch and a knit pattern. January 1st is Basket Rib. It gives you the directions for creating the Basket Rib pattern. You can use this calendar again and again as there are no days of the week given, just the month and day.

If you work it right, you can make several Afghans out of just trying your hand at each stitch by creating squares of the same size. Then just whip stitch them together into an afghan. With 365 different squares, you will be able to have several ready to give by next Christmas!

A must for fiber artists who knit

Since I make up my own projects, this is a great resource for knitting projects when I want to figure out what stitch I want to use. Nice clear photographs, number of rows for the pattern and the number of stitches to create the pattern are included for each.

    Nice patterns, labor-intensive page-turning

The knitting patterns in this book are great & provide a lot of options. If you want to use the book as a calendar, great. Sometimes I want to browse through to find patterns to spice up a plain sweater--this is a challenge with this spiral-bound, chubby book that is printed to be displayed in an easel-format (not really designed to be paged through).
