Without a doubt, this is the book to buy

Imagine learning to drive by starting with a book about all the places you can visit when you start driving. This book gets your heart pumping and excited about programming from the first chapter. You quickly start game development within the first chapter. It includes a game engine, point and click gui and one of the easiest to read books ever. The website that the author is involved with is high speed with tons of engines, tweaking object programs...everything you will ever need to build a game. As a C++ programmer, I looked long and hard to find a source that would allow me to learn about gaming without writing a thesis on programming. This book is it. You don't have to sit at a desk, in a sterile enviornment to really understand the chapters. It is so well written, one can sit in an easy chair, kick back and enjoy the gentle approach to all of the topics.
