Overview

In a music genre overpopulated with thin-voiced and scantily clad girl groups, 3LW (3 Little Women) are a breath of fresh air. On their bubbly, eponymous debut -- accented by youthful and pleasingly lisped vocals -- 3LW follow in the well-choreographed footsteps of Destiny's Child and TLC by dropping lyrical gems such as "playas they gonna play and haters are gonna hate/ballers are gonna ball/ shot callers are gonna call" ("Playas Gon' Play"). Other standout tracks include the hit single "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)" and the rock guitar-accented "Getting Too Heavy," which is thematically reminiscent of Janet Jackson's "Let's Wait a While." With this hummable set of 11 infectious songs, 3LW hope to stake their claim as pop and R&B's next big girl group.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Ed Hogan
On their million-selling debut single "No More (Baby I'm a Do Right)," female trio 3LW ("Three Little Women") leapt to the forefront with a fresh sound that deftly mixes hip-hop/R&B and pop. It's included on their self-titled debut album which has a sweet undercurrent of old-school craftsmanship. That is not to say that 3LW is retro; they're surrounded by melodically inventive uses of MIDI-based music. Standouts are "Is You Feelin' Me," "More Than Friends (That's Right)," "Crush on You," and the tender ballads "Curious," the inspiring "Ocean," and "I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me." The group's strong vocals and an overall adventurous vibe supplied by the album's producers and songwriters makes 3LW a pleasure.
