3M Cloud Library 3.1 out of 5 based on 1 ratings. 410 reviews.

Easy to use to find and check out books. Works on my phone and my Nook. If your library doesn't show up on the menu, that means that they do not offer the service and haven't purchased content for their customers to check out using 3M. It's a fairly new service, so that may be the case for many libraries.

If your library has purchased this system, then the library will show up in the system Only about 70 libraries have this collection so far, if your library has this, the system works so awesome. So much better than Overdrive! Talk to your library about getting the cloud, then the app will work! It's soo worth it, super great system for eReading from your library

Today I found free apps for this, the 3m cloud library, and the overdrive library. I have a NY state library card, and they appear to support both libraries (as others mentioned a very limited number of libraries are using 3m at this point) Even if NY had a fraction of the books available on 3m as they have available for overdrive, after trying each I will use overdrive almost exclusively. Overdrive is more intuitive. I knew what I was doing right away and when you search for titles, it is the same interface as the ebook website when using your nook's web browser. With 3m I attempted to log in about 5 times before it recognized my card number (your "id" by the way). I thought the interface was strange and the pictures of book covers were chopped off in an odd way. In all honesty, I only spent about 20 minutes using the 3m app and another 20 minutes trying to find out more about it online. I plan to keep an eye on this app to see if it improves and if the collection grows. I hope to see 3m grow and become more used by libraries. My understanding is that they sought to provide an answer to some of the negative business practices of overdrive - primarily overdrive's contracting with libraries. Libraries pay a huge annual fee to use overdrive (in addition to buying the ebooks) and if their contract ends they run the risk of losing access to their collection (see the case of the Kansas State Library).

This app needs work! I recently got the app and linked it to my library account. I was able to check out a book and was happy with experience at first. It is nice to get library books without having to put them on my computer and transfer. I am very disappointed however that it does not allow the Nook to go into sleep mode while you are reading a book. This is a severe deficiency that has made my battery run down several times. It is a habit to leave my book open because when reading normally on the Nook or using any other app the Nook automatically goes into sleep mode. When I contacted customer service for 3M they gave me no guideance other than to say to close the program. They need to acknowledge that there is a problem and work to fix it. I am also disappointed by the lack of help in navigating the program. I have read other reviews about the books being unavailable when you aren't online. I have not tried to read offline yet, so I can't say how that works, but if that is the case it will be yet another glitch that needs to be corrected. At this point I would not recommend this app, but since our library systems pick the apps and we don't the actual users may not have a choice. :-(

As long as your preferred library is in their database, this app performs flawlessly!!! Certainly a lot less hassle than the Quickdrive!

I was so thrilled when we got word that the 3M app for the Nook was available! It is SO much easier now to borrow books!! If your library doesn't subscribe to 3M, you should ask them about adding it...

I've had a variety of problems with this app. When I select a book to find out more about it, I can't get back to search mode. The selection of books seems very limited. Once the book is on my device (a Nook), I have difficulty turning the page (I get the screen with the font size selection and so on). It takes 4 or 5 tries before the page turns. Others have mentioned the app doesn't allow the Nook to turn itself off after a period of inactivity. These negatives outweigh the good features, such as obtaining books without needing to transfer them from a computer.

I have a color nook and it was relatively easy to get a library book ready to read on my nook. The librarian is most helpful if you have a problem. Getting used to the process is a big part of the ease in using the system. I will continue to get books from the libray. Thank you.

This a great app the only problem I have on it is that the font are so small. I've adjusted it as far as it could go. I find a lot of great books, and authors that I like. Please fix this small problem.

Performance is very slow. Bookmark function does not work. Nook does not auto power down but stays on, not good for battery. Difficult to navigate. No lookup or highlight functions. Library uses it so stuck with it but do not like it.

I am in California and only about 20 or so libraries have signed up to use this service. Maybe in the future I can use it.

This isn’t supported on a Nook Color. And instead of B&N working with the app provider to work on supporting the device, B&N’s customer service just says too bad. B&N has just lost a customer for life.

This is no good. I cannot get it installed on my Nook Simple Touch.

I wasn't able to get my Nook to load the application, but it may be a problem with my device not the application.

It's free and it's great. You won't be sorry.

I used it to check out a book from the NYPL, but it is very annoying, because I have to make a note of where I leave off before I turn it off or otherwise switch to another use of my Nook. That is because, when I again access the cloud library, it is nowhere near the same place where I left off when I last used it,.

As others have stated, is very hard to use on my nook, very cumbersome. Much easier to side load from my pc for library books than to use this cloud app. Have tried several times, looses place in books, drains my battery, simply not worth the effort and I am deleting so will not be tempted to try using again.

I purchased my Nook for the sole purpose of checking out eBooks from the 3M Library of which my library supports. I found the app to be cumbersome, and sloppy. I'm deleting it from my Nook Library. I'd rather purchase or find free books from Barnes & Noble, and check out hardcover or paperbacks from my library. What a shame this app doesn't live up to my specifications. Hopefully the developers will fix many of the problems.

The app works well but the fonts are so small on the hd its annoying to read and I do not need reading glasses. I noted they updated the fonts on the ipad but not on the nook HD

I have been able to read some of the latest books. Lots and lots of PROS, only one CON. It was difficult to find how to return the books after you read them. I'm grateful that my library uses 3M Cloud. Thank you 3M for a valuable service.

The app is very easy to use. However, compared to Overdrive, the seledction if books on this app is rather pitiful.

Simply wont load onto my Nook Color

So I love the app.... So much better than overdrive. But I have run into a very odd problem I cannot fix... I attempted to adjust the brightness for reading at night and accidentally turned it all the way down. This renders me incapable of seeing anything on my screen, even though it is (apparently) still on. The home button is also useless and by pushing the home button a couple times I am given the opportunity to unlock my device. However the instant it is unlocked the screen goes dark again, even if I am fast enough to touch the appropriate place to adjust the brightness. The only solution I have found is to restart the Nook and stop using the app... Help please!!!

This app is not user friendly at all. Pages don't always turn, and I set the brightness too low and none of the prompts showed so I wasn't able to easily fix it. I didn't finish the book and uninstalled the app. I'll stick with Overdrive.
