I thoroughly enjoyed this devotional. It has forty short daily entries. Each chapter begins with a verse, has a short devotional and includes space for adding personal thoughts. They may be short, but they are not short on truth and challenges. It takes just a few minutes each day and will give you something to meditate on throughout the day. I enjoyed each one, but here are a few that especially spoke to me. Day 2 reminded us to stay silent so God could work in our lives. Day 9 was awesome! It pointed out the three requirements of the Lord from Micah 6:8 and encouraged you to read through the Gospels to see how they were lived out by Jesus Christ. There were chapters on fear, the correct response to sin, praying for your enemies and strength for dealing with persecution.
I rreceived a copy of this from the publisher and The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review which I have given.

Kathi Macias delivers a tremendous work in her 40-Day Devotional Challenge! I was certain that I had more devotionals than I needed. After all, I have one ongoing on my phone and at least one print book that are used at different times of day. However, the same Spirit led me to use this who also led Kathi to share meditations that are apropos for this time in our country and our generation. Whether you are a long-term student of the Bible, a newcomer, or someone desiring to restore their passion for their Lord, the 40-Day Devotional Challenge will bless you and help make quiet time with the Lord a priority.
Many of the scripture verses are favorites of this reader while others were new to me and appreciated. Kathi explains each scripture as if she were sitting down with a friend, or someone that she is ministering to, and is saying, “Let me show you who God is to me”. She doesn’t talk down to the reader, but delivers truth in such a way that is easy to understand.
I strongly encourage believers of any age to take the challenges within these pages, as you may be blessed by these devotions in relation to the activities of your daily life. It is a devotional that you will use many times through the various seasons of your life. You will find, most importantly, a closer walk with the Lord as a result of spending time with this devotional. After only a couple days of finishing Day 40, I am already missing this book while still being worked hard on by the Lord through one of the final challenges. I am considering purchasing the print copy at some point for long-term use.

This devotional is written in a way that makes it easy to relate. For each day, there is a Scripture verse followed by how that can be related into the author's life. Then there is room for the reader to write their own thoughts and examples also. It allows you to make the devotional your own. It is a quick read but very thought inducing. I enjoyed reading it very much.I received my electronic copy from the Book Club Network in exchange for a honest review. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Everyone is busy, finding time to spend reading the Bible or even a devotional can be a challenge on the best of days. Enter the latest book by Kathy Macias, a devotional created for just that reason - to challenge the reader to make time over 40 days to develop a closer walk with Christ.
This devotional offers the reader 40 separate entries, each with a scripture verse for focus, a short passage discussing the idea behind the passage, with thoughts for today's Christian to make it relevant, and a section allotted for journaling should one wish to do so. The book is designed to be read however is convenient, whether it be 40 consecutive days, one a week, or scattered randomly. Because each devotional selection stands alone, readers can pick it up any time without worry of having forgotten what was studied prior, should several days have passed between readings.
When reading through this devotional for review, I found it to be similar to many other devotional a available. There was no specific topic that the book centered around, which is great for general interest, but not as much for those looking for a focused study or topic. It seemed to be written with older readers in mind, as some of the author's stories within the discussions reveal. While well written and of course useful, it didn't reach out to me as a stellar devotional I would want all of my friends to read. Perhaps because I am of a younger generation or because I would seek out a more focused devotional. Definitely a worthwhile challenge to undertake and worth a read if you are looking for a variety of scriptures to focus on.
This book can be found and purchased through Barnes and Noble and many other booksellers.
I was provided a copy of this book to review for free through the BookCrash program. I was not required to write a positive review, nor was I compensated in any way for this review. All ideas expressed are my own.

As usual Kathi Macias has done a masterful job of pointing us toward God. Whether she is writing non-fiction or fiction she has a wonderful talent for drawing us closer to God.
For anyone seeking a closer walk with god I highly recommend this devotional. She opens up with a wonderful look at Moses. She leads us through insights from the lives of Harriet Tubman, the Apostles Paul and Thomas, Joshua, Ruth and Eli among others. Take the 40-Day Challenge and move into a deeper relationship with God.

40 Day Devotional Challenge: to Encourage Your Heart and Deepen Your Faith by Kathi Macias***** e-book
This is a great companion to your Bible. Each day's devotion begins with Scripture passages, along with encouragement on how to apply the Bible's message to our busy lives. Kathi adds her own personal life experiences of her faith walk that may be common to many readers. There is a “make it personal” section included at the end of each day's reading where the reader can add their own thoughts, prayers and reflections. These short readings are perfect for gleaning from God's word.

Great way to start the day!
Kathi Macias has written a wonderful short book of devotions that can easily be read in a brief amount of time each day or week. These devotions begin with scripture. Kathi then offers encouragement and focuses on how the scripture can be applied to our busy lives when little time for spiritual enrichment can be found. A woman of faith, Kathi Macias presents each of these devotions on a personal level by offering encouragement through her life experiences in faithful living so that the reader can find common ground with each verse for the day. Following the devotion is a page for writing your own reflections and feelings that the devotion has evoked.
I found through reading this devotional that much can be achieved even in bite-sized pieces. By opening ourselves to scripture and the suggestions and examples Kathi offers, we can deepen our faith in small bites. I intend to use this devotional again and again. Repetition is a useful method of remembering, and these helpful lessons are worth committing to memory. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, this little devotional is fruitful.

It’s a precious gift that we have the freedom to directly communicate, heart-to-heart, with our Heavenly Father. With that said, it’s so important to take time each day to read Scripture and pray. The 40 Day Devotional Challenge helps readers do that. Kathi Macias inspires people to spend time with the Lord in prayer and read His Word. Kathi’s devotionals have touched my heart many times. I appreciate her strong witness for Christ and solid Biblical teachings. Kathi is an excellent author and her devotionals are fantastic. Be sure to read the 40 Day Devotional Challenge. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

40 Day Devotional Challenge
By: Kathi Macias
Loved the Devotional. I read through the Devotional all the way but I want to go back and reread and do the Challenge . Kathi gives us some verses, then she will tell give us a example from the Bible or something from her own personal life. Then there is a place for our own personal notes. As I was reading I came across one that hit close to me. I believe it was day 16. The verse was Philippians 4:13. I have used this verses my life verse. Going through a tough time in life the whole chapter 4 helped me. It was a big challenge and I only made it through with Christ there to help me. I saw some others that I will need to work on. Thanks so much Kathi for listening to God. This book will help many.

I'm not anywhere near finished with this devotional--I'm reading each's day's idea on each day. Call me OCD, but that's how I roll. However, I don't think I want to wait another 30 days to let you know how good this devo is. Don't get me wrong. It isn't labeled date-wise, just numerically--Day 1, Day 2, etc.
I believe it's really important for a Christian to read the Bible, first and foremost. It's like God has written us a love letter, but it sits layered in dust on the top shelf of the closet. What's wrong with this picture?
I like to also read devotionals. Sometimes they put new light on old scriptures and apply them to my own life. This 40 Day Devotional Challenge is like that, and it includes a place for thoughts, inspirations, and answers at the end of each day's devo.
I especially like one I read on Day 11. It's about names: names that hurt, and names that bless, and the Name of Jesus. I really related to the last sentence for that day. "For names truly do matter--especially the Name above all names, the Name of Yeshua/Jesus."

Kathi Macias has written a 40 day devotional challenge. She presents a verse then gives her insight into the verse either through Biblical references or her own life. She does in depth research in order to write her novels so her devotional is no different. There is also a portion at the end in order for you to make it personal.
I read through most of the devotional 1. Because I enjoy her books so much but 2. because I did not want to stop reading. Her examples really made me stop and think. I was drawn to make it personal. It made me want to learn and apply these verses to my life.
As with most devotionals, I love to read how other people interpret the Bible verses. I love to see how they apply the verses to their life. A great devotional that I look forward to going back and re reading while taking the challenge.
I received this devotional as a gift in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you. I look forward to the challenge.
