Editorial Reviews

Steven McEvoy
This book was a wonderful surprise. It is so synthesized and succinct, and yet full of useful information. The format also was really unique.

This book will be one someone could work through again and again and make more progress towards a balanced life each time. They will find a balance between mind, body and spirit. This was an amazing book that anyone looking to live life and live it to the full could benefit from reading.

Mysteries, Etc. - Kathryn Poulin
If you really devoted yourself to following this book for the 40 days, you really could change your life.

Great book to get you up and moving, watching your weight and your health with faith as your base. Great motivation!

The 160 Acre Woods - Amydeanne
I previously read Dr. Morris’ book Health Care You Can Live With and was quite impressed with it.  Let me say this one I really loved!  I was actually surprised – I wasn’t expecting it to be so helpful!

I wasn’t expecting to have a plan laid out before and to have blanks I could go through and figure out what I needed help with.  I really really liked this format for this style of book — it puts it in an action plan at your finger tips and gives you a timeline to finish it!  Talk about setting people up for success!

Seven Step Plan to Optimal Health

Dr. Scott Morris and the staff of Church Health Center of Memphis have collaborated in producing this incredible "40 Days to Better Living" plan for discovering optimal health. The book is made up of forty chapters designed to be read and implemented over a period of forty days. Each week introduces a featured true-to-life story illustrating how to put into practice the suggested guidelines on your personal journey to optimal health. Each chapter includes a "Morning Reflection" an "Evening Wrap Up" and "Daily Practices" which are made up of suggestions titled: Faith Life, Medical, Movement, Work, Emotional, Family and Friends, and Nutrition. These practices include self examination questions, practical action steps, and exercise suggestions. A few lined spaced are provided for journal notes, progress reports, or reminders. Each two page spread includes colorful pictures which add a visual impact to one of the "Daily Practice" issues. I plan to recommend "40 Days to Better Living Optimal Health" to my family and friends from the "Gen X" generation right up to the "Senior Crowd." The cover, content, and format of this book make it a perfect gift for any occasion. I received a complimentary review copy from a representative of the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. The opinions expressed are my own. As reviewed on Midwest Book Review.

Want a Better You? Get This Book!

40 Days To Better Living : Optimal Health by Dr. Scott Morris is exactly what we need to jump-start a new way of living. This is the first book in this series. Although this is a 40 day plan, this book could easily be made into an 80 or 120 day plan.

This book is divided into six weeks, each beginning with a testimony of someone who made dramatic lifestyle changes which also brought health benefits. There is a daily Morning Reflection and Evening Wrap-Up, with devotionals and scripture included. There is room provided to briefly journal, answering specific questions posed by the author in the areas of :

    ?Faith Life
    ?Medical
    ?Movement
    ?Work
    ?Emotional
    ?Family and Friends
    ?Nutrition
If you believe that the suggested assignments are too involved to accomplish in one day, you could do two or three and stretch each weekly chapter into two or three weeks. This is the first book I have read in this format, health plan in a devotional format. The inside is as bright and colorful as the cover, with much to hold your attention. This book is small enough to carry in your purse to read as you are waiting. I enjoy Dr. Morris style of writing. He is always very encouraging in a non-preachy style, offering many suggestions to accomplish a goal. I know from reading other works by him, that he promotes natural and medical remedies when necessary, but strongly promotes lifestyle change as the best way to improve our body and spirit. If you are ready to change, this inexpensive book, at $7.99, will show you how.
