Overview

In 2009, the U.S. unemployment rate approached ten percent. Today, when new work is found, it may not be traditional. Studies estimate half of the American workforce will soon consist of freelancers, consultants, independent contractors, entreprenuers, "electronic immigrants," and so forth. Are you ready for the new normal?

Dan Miller has seen it coming for years. But his thriving vocational best seller, 48 Days to the Work You Love, is not so much about finding a new job as it is learning about who we are really called to be in relation to our vocation-whatever shape that career may take in these changing times. According to the author, failing to make that fundamental discovery of calling is why so many people find themselves in jobs they hate. But now, thousands upon thousands are finding the work they love, thanks to practical advice from this leading career counselor.

Conversational and creative, Miller helps the reader understand one's Godgiven skills and abilities, personality traits, values, dreams, and passions. Doing so helps us recognize clear patterns that will point toward successful decisions along the career path. Step by step, this updated edition of 48 Days to the Work You Love reveals the process for creating a Life Plan and translating that plan into meaningful and fulfilling daily work. Let the countdown begin!

    Crossroads of my life

I had come to a point in my life when because of health issues, I was faced with a choice. A friend had heard Dave Rampsey promote this book and said maybe I should read it.

I read with an open-mind, meaning I was open to change and suggestions for a better career.

I have started a new career and will continue to review sections of the text that apply to this new venture.

Thanks for this great book and the new perspective used to approach changes in my life at a time when it was so desperately
    needed.

    Just what I needed

A wonderful read if you're in high school or college, working or unemployed, young or senior. I have been a blue collar working for 21 years and have disliked my job for about 15 of those years, what wasted time. Dan Miller assured me that my life was just beginning and not ending. Even though I haven't left my present job, I have set out to pursue the career that I have dreamed of for many years. This book is a great resource to those searching for answers to their future, for that next step in life. I was also able to apply many of the principles to this difficult separation and hopefully not, divorce that I am facing. First I felt a lot of repetition was being used, but it only reinforced all the lessons that I needed to learn. My favorite two quotes are, 'Security is your ability to produce', and 'Choose a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life'. Get the book and go for it! Your true dreams await you.

    Don't waste your money.

This book does not work well on the nook. I had a lot of problems with it. Also, this is not a book to help you figure out what work you love to do.

    Good book

The book was good, but some pages were not entirely displayed on the nook screen which made it hard to fully utilize the book.

    more from this reviewer

    I Also Recommend:

This book should be required reading!

Everyone needs to read this book! As a matter of fact, this book should be required reading for ALL high school students. No one should be able to graduate unless you read this book. Dan Miller spells out how to get a job the right way.from finding the work you love.to secrets to getting an interview (and step one is NOT sending a cover letter and resume!).to the interview.and beyond. If you want to know HOW to really get the work (NOT the "job") you love, then read this book. I'm an entrepreneur and read this book because Dave Ramsey recommended it.and I learned so much. Do yourself a favor and read this book. It's straight forward and practical information that you can use TODAY!
