I read the first book in a color version when that was first published. I became addicted to it-enough so that I then went out and bought the black & white full volume set because I HAD to know what happened. My son (who was 11 at the time) did the same thing read the whole series in a few days, and loved it! This month my daughter (who is now 8 years old) discovered the books- she read the first 5 books in the color versions and then got so involved she is finishing up with the big black & white set. She is almost through the entire 1300 pages because she can't stop reading it. I've recommended it to everyone. Really good for all ages. Witty humor for adults and silly humor for kids. Works on all different age levels. A little scary at times, I thought it would be too much for my daughter, but Mr. Smith handles it in a way that is not too much for kids to be frightened of, and yet tense enough that as an adult I didn't think it was stupid. Very hard to walk that fine line. Nicely done, though!! The color versions were kept in my car for backseat reading, and every kid that has ridden in my car started reading them, and got addicted to the story. Highly recommended.

    An epic.........

The bone series ran for many years before it was finished, thankfully jeff smith decided to collect all of the comics in this giant collection.

Now this book is over 1000 pages long, and is generally sold for around
forty bucks, but is it worth that much?

I am thrilled to say that it definitely is worth it. Bone was one of the
greatest comics series of all time and now its one of the best graphic novels too!

This really taught me that not all graphics novels have to be grim and depressing, which isnt bad but it can get old after a while. What is
amazing about bone is that the story can be taken very seriously, especially toward the end but it is still lighthearted and funny.

Its also nice to finally have a graphic novel appropriate for the younger
audience, I read this whole book to my younger brothers and they loved
    every page of it!

There is just about nothing bad about this book............ seriously.

    Awesome reading

We purchased this book for our daughter. She loved the characters so much that she was reading through the first two books rather quickly. She came home from school shortly before she finished the second book and told us that there is a book that has the first nine books in one. We decided that instead of going every week to the bookstore we would save money and gas by purchasing this for her. Wow! What a blessing this turned out to be. Not only did this accomplish what we needed, but she really enjoyed the book. When she finished this the other night, she came to me and could not stop telling me about the book. If you have a child who gives you trouble taking the time to sit and read, I would highly recommend this book. Our daughter has learning difficulties and this book kept her reading right to the very end. When the next set of books comes out like this we will be there to purchase it.

    adventure

My book is called Bones by Jeff Smith. The characters, they are three cousins who got kicked out of their home place, Boneville, because one of the cousins was rich and greedy so they kicked him out. This book starts in the mountains then goes into the forest then the mountains and in the end the forest. Wild this is happening a lot of stuff happens to the three cousins and the people with them, while they are trying to go to places. I would recommend it to people who like to read and see what is happening maybe any kind of age would like to read. This page has more then one thousands pages but it has the series in it so you can chose to either read one big book or one of the series at a time. It is a fast reading because its like a comic book. My rating for this book would be *****.

A must have for all ages

By a wide margin one of the most satisfying reads i've ever experienced. Simple enough for a young reader, yet engrossing and complex enough for any age. Don't let the family friendly demographic fool you- this is a story i'll reread well into my golden years, and give to my children and grandchildren so they may experience it as well. I have a rather finicky taste when it comes to graphic novels, and this particular title is without a doubt near the top of my favorites. everyone should experience a read like this one. i've always felt that the graphic novel can immensly aid in teaching children to read, or enticing them to learn to read better, or just more, and this is the perfect title to do so.

    Great for All Ages

My 8-year-old started by reading the color Scholastic books in this series and got so addicted, he sat down and read the whole 1300-page book cover to cover. As a middle-school/high school teacher, I recommend this book as a book for reluctant readers at all levels. As a long-time lover of graphic novels and reading in general, I finally acquiesced, read this title, and fell in love with the story. Great action, eye-catching graphics that move the story along, and a cohesive, unified storyline make for a satisfying read for all ages.
