Editorial Reviews
From The Critics
Reviewer: Vincent F Carr, DO, MSA, FACC, FACP(Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences)Description: This edition of The 5-Minute Clinical Consult comes with access to an interactive online version with the same information, text, and figures, but using a different presentation. The book presents the information in columns, while the online version is much easier to scan and move about.
Purpose: The intent is to provide a comprehensive and current resource to assist clinicians in the care of patients. The editor and the contributors present the material in a very useful manner; it is both comprehensive and current. The online version is extremely useful as it may be bookmarked and accessed quickly with a minimal number of keystrokes.
Audience: "This is a highly useful resource, simple enough for anyone in patient care to use, yet complete enough for use by physicians in the everyday care of patients. The contributors appear to be practicing physicians who know their subjects well as well as what is useful information. "
Features: All the necessary information is here, unencumbered with unnecessary prose. The index is useful, but, in keeping with the philosophy of the book, there are no references. The Signs and Symptoms section uses numerous helpful algorithms that allow readers to get right into the practical aspects of patient care. The online version has numerous well done videos of procedures that, in addition to being extremely useful, also offer an option to earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit hours.
Assessment: "This is a very useful reference that would be a great addition for an office, with the significant advantage that it can be accessed online. "
