Connoisseurs of magnificent photography also enjoy lavishing their attention on pictures of curvaceous, sexy women. This large format hardcover pictorial celebrates the first fifty years of the Playboy Bunny. (But, hey, who's counting?) For over a year, selfless Playmate scholars have been busy rummaging through closed magazine vaults for never-before gawked at near-naked pictures of iconic Bunnies. Their rediscovered treasures include snaps of famous Bunnies who turned in their rabbit ears for other professions, a line-up which includes Debbie Harry, Lauren Hutton, and Gloria Steinem. This book is a high qulaity coffee-table book centering on the famous Playboy Bunnies from the Playboy Clubs and elsewhere. It's full of pictures of these iconic women both at work and play and confirms that Hef was onto something when he decided to celebrate the girl next door and not the unapproachable and unreal looking high fashion queens. These women have a timeless, real beauty that the high quality images celebrate. Images are from the 1960's, 1970's and the 1980's when the clubs sadly closed. There is text in this book pertaining to each chapter and following the history of both the bunnies and the clubs and taking the reader into a culture that is no longer with us but I believe it's the pictures that make coffe-tables books either good or forgettable and this book is a good one. There is a companion book called 'The Bunny years' by Kathryn Leigh Scott that gathers recollections of numerous bunnies-some featured in this book- that will add more to anyone interested in the world of the Playboy bunny and I suggest you buy both and keep the coffe-table book firmly on the coffe-table for easy access. I always find myself reaching for this book simply to look at he images which is all I expect from a coffee-table book.
