    Not bad...

I purchased this cookbook this weekend and have so far done one "buffin" recipe. This cookbook includes muffin, buffin, and cuffin recipes. The author, however, doesn't tell you what the difference is. I've looked for a definition of buffin, but all I can come up with is in urban dictionaries and not related to baking at all or a muffin that uses yeast, which the recipe I did didn't. Also, there are inconsistencies among the recipes. Some list a yield, others don't. Some say muffin tin, others say 12 cup muffin tin. Is plain muffin tin referring to a six cup tin? It doesn't say in anywhere in the book that I can find, though I'll keep looking. And, as I read the intro, the author, even though she is known as the "muffin lady" did not create all of the recipes. Some were given to her. This could account for the inconsistencies. The one recipe I've done turned out well, though I was up in arms as to whether is should be a six cup muffin tin or a 12 cup one as I assume most recipes are for 12. I got 10. I do plan on trying many of the recipes in this book, but rated it as I did because of the inconsistencies in the recipes itself. Given as much as the author writes in the beginning about her love for muffins and being the "muffin lady" it's also disappointing that she didn't do an intro for the chapters, especially those for Buffins and Cuffins. If she's assuming everyone knows what these are, well, you shouldn't. I've lived in several regions of the country and have been collecting muffin cookbooks for over 20 years. I've never heard of a buffin or a cuffin. Perhaps, I haven't lived in the right part of the country to know about this variety.
