    Gorgeous Cross-Section

Lark has done it again with this addition to their 500-series. The humble bowl, arguably the simplest of wheel-thrown forms, becomes sculpture, canvas, art. Most clay types - earthenware, stoneware, porcelain - are covered, as are most firing methods - oxidation, reduction, wood, soda. The decorative applications are as varied as the 500 bowls. Inspiration for every kind of potter & clay artist.

An Exceptional Book From Larks Book Series

Wow, this book is just another excellent example of high quality books needed in the field of ceramics!! The book covers a very large range of techniques used to create a basic form and includes a variety of artistic visions and interpretations of that form. Beautiful, just beaut

Saw it and had to have a copy!

This book has got 500 color pictures!!! Someone brought a copy of this book to a pottery workshop that I attended and we all wanted one. It is fascinating to see so many bowls and how each potter has explored this form. I would highly recommend this book.

    A Big Disappointment

This book is so much less than it could have been. While a lot of the pieces are wonderful, many are uninteresting and unskillful. With 500 photos, SO MUCH has been left out, especially the work of the exceptional 'functional potters' who may be ubiquitous but many of whom still produce beautiful work. The emphasis in this book is on the decorative piece that goes on a shelf. In addition facing pictures often detract from one another, another statement of poor choices.

    Gift for College Art Professor

This book was requested as a birthday gift by my brother who is a college art professor. He loves the "500 Series by Lark" books. I wouldn't buy this book for someone unless I knew that person really wanted it. My brother loves this book so I guess it's a great gift for someone into ceramics.
