It bothers me when people give poor reviews for good books that aren't dumbed down to their own specifications. 'A Reviewer' believes that this book is no good because it is useless for internet players. The book never advertises itself as a book for internet players. Players who limit their play solely to internet play need to get out more. Part of the fun is touching the pieces and hearing the dice rattle. Plus, it's up to the player to become used to playing in either direction.

This is the book to read!

If you want to understand the game then this book is for you. The checker moves and doubling strategy cover almost every aspect of the game. This book will save you many points ($$$). I'm reading it 4th time now and still learn. I wish he had 1000 positions to analyse.

Verry Unfortunate, what was the author thinking?

This book is NOT for you if you play backgammon on the Intenet. If you have the luxury of grabbing your gammon board and going to the park to play with you buddies all day, then this book might be of some value. The reason for this distain is that i, and almost everyone i know, plays gammon on the internet. Unfortunately this book is written from the point of view of the dark checkers, a position that people playing on the internet hardly ever see. Granted that the principles used in the book are sound and good, but the examples do little to help in a practicle way. In fact they tend to cause confusion, because the pieces are not moving in the 'normal' fashion.
