There's no carb counting on this program, either. When you follow the eating plan that is tailored for you, you automatically consume the correct amount and type of carbohydrates for your metabolism. You do not want to cut carbs from your diet, since this practice is extremely self-defeating. If you cut out the carbs, at some point your body will go into what is known as a catabolic state-it begins consuming its own muscle tissue for energy. You need muscle tissue for body shape and to support an active, fat-burning metabolism. Carbohydrates supply the bodily energy to support the growth and repair of muscle tissue, as well as the fuel to support brain function. You cannot build and maintain lean, toned muscle without carbohydrates. And you need muscle for curves, definition, tone, and overall shape.

There's another crucial problem with low-carb diets: They deprive your brain of its favorite fuel source: carbs! Brain cells need glucose from the breakdown of carbs to function; it is the fuel your brain normally uses. In absence of glucose, you can feel spacey, unable to think or perform correctly at work, at school, or anywhere. Plus, it can cause you to be moody, and even unmotivated to achieve your weight-loss goals. Faddish low-carbohydrate diets are unhealthy and damaging to your body, mind, and spirit.

And if you're hypoglycemic (low blood sugar), which is relatively common in our society, you really don't want to cut out carbohydrates, because carbs help keep your blood sugar at an even level. You shouldn't go on a low-carbohydrate diet of any type if you expect to look and feel your best.

With this book, I'll take you through easy-to-follow, step-by-step guidelines on what you can do to succeed. Essentially, this plan provides customized menu plans that can help you drop inches and pounds fast.     It does work

    This plan did help me drop about 8lbs in a week but it is a lot of work to prepare the meals. If you like to cook this is a great plan though. The recipes are all very tasty and now part of my regular collection. I learned a lot about the foods I eat on a daily basis and to watch my sodium intake as much as calories.

    This is the real deal!

    Don't believe those saying it is strictly water weight. It really gets your metabolism going! The amount of foods eaten, portions, and distribution of foods (proteins, fat, etc), is what really does the trick. And eating several small meals throughout the day is what really kick-starts your metabolism. I've tried diets where I only seem to lose "water weight" in the first week, and it didn't add up to a whole pants size! If you follow this plan, you WILL lose weight AND see results in six days. I was hardly ever hungry, and if I happened to be, I would have some grapes and a glass of water. It won't set you back. I was so happy to put on those smaller jeans at the end of the six days!

    It does work!!!

    If you follow the plan u will lose. I'm sure some of the weightloss is water but I lost 13lb in a week and several inches. I was able to fit in a pair of slacks that were extremely snugged. I felt lighter and more energetic. And if you go back to your old eating habits, yes you will gain the weight. Most who've failed was because they didnt follow the plan and/or fell back into their old habits or wasn't healthy enough to be on the diet in the first place.

    Waste of Money

    Don't be fooled. All that you lose during this program is water weight which you'll end up gaining back in a week or less. Spend your money on something more realistic.

    Its a great plan!!

    The diet worked wonderfully and I have yet to gain any weight back. I am healthy and had no ill effects. To those who had difficuly..they did not use common sense! If you have any health problems, see a doctor first. To the person who almost passed out from this diet...something was done terribly wrong!!

    Beware of this Diet

    I tried this diet and almost passed out in the middle of the street. I had headaches, chills, sweating and extreme fatigue. Not to mention the fact that I was STARVING!!! The food for my body type adds up to about 900 calories per day. The total removal of all fat, salt, dairy and sugar can be a real shock to one's system. If you suffer from low blood sugar, or low blood pressure this diet can really hurt you. If you have a lot of weight to lose (more than 30lbs) I think this may be a good plan. If you only want to lose 20lbs, find another plan. Before you try this, I seriously advise you to do a search on the net. Others have written of similar scary experiences. One man had to go the emergency room and was advised that he could have gone into a coma.

    80lbs in 5 months!!!!

    I did the 6 day mini makemove and lost 13lbs... It was amazing!!! I continued to do the entire 6 week program and lost 35lbs. I just finished my fifth month and I have lost 80 lbs and 68inches.... This program really works and I am so greatful to Michael...

    6-Day Body Makeover: Drop One Whole Dress or Pant Size in Just 6 Days--And Keep It Off

    Of Course you are going to lose water weight during this 6 day period. I look at it as a 'cleansing' period. What it did for me was motivate me to stick with a program and eat more rather then starve myself to lose weight. When you see results from eating healthy foods and your clothes start fitting better and you start feeling better, you are motivated. This book offers the tools to adjust your eating once you are beyond the 6 days. Smaller meals more frequently make sense and do work.

    MICHAEL THURMAN IS DaMAN!

    I hav tried both the 6 day and the 6 week body makeover's. It WORKS! I was Amazed at the results and it's ease. A lot of cooking but totally *worth* it. I really don't believe in 'diets', but this is more of an 'eating lifestyle' change. He makes it so easy...Thanks so Much, Michael. Really. ~Dedicated & Made Over in South Florida

    Post -Partum pounds melting off!!

    I have to say that I am truly amazed iwth this 'new way of eating.' I did not think that I would lose any weight but have lost 7 pounds so far and it is not even the 6th day until tomorrow! I have to also say that I only followed it to the T for 4 of the days but then got bak on it religiously. I am well on my way to losing the other 20 post partum pounds. I can't imagine how I am giong to feel, and I can't wait either. I was never hungry on this diet. It is a lot of food to eat.

    A great approach

    For those who say the loss is all water, do the math. The average caloric intake on this plan is 1000-1100 calories per day, spaced out in smaller meals. I'd estimate that 3.5 of the 9 pounds I lost were fat. So what if the rest is water? My knees don't know the difference and are grateful I tried this. I had incredible energy and my mood swings went away. And for those of us trying low-carb before this, getting to eat potatoes/sweet potatoes is a real plus! The only negative to this program is the time it takes to prepare. If you make most of the food up ahead of Day 1, you'll do better.

    Finally!! Something that works!

    I was giving up after trying everything for 20 yrs. This book is the answer. I am losing 1 to 1 1/2 pounds a week for six weeks now. I prepare my food in bulk and keep it in containers for easy access and availability. It seems like I'm always eating and I never get hungry anymore. I feel good and am starting to look good, too! What a great combination! You won't be disappointed if you're dedicated to it and honest with yourself.

    I am a transplant patient, so I take steriods to prevent rejection. I had a Kidney and pancreas transplant. So I want to eat all the time. My family is on this plan and it has sky rockett through everyone. I have a very large family Cajun. I am just getting started by preparing my menu and getting things in order and the big thing is PLANNING. And that is what I am doing. Thank you so much it helps keep the wait off with the steroid and the anti-rejection medication.

    good for all ages

    this book isnt only for adults but children to. i just started to learn and eat right from this book and already i notice a difference in my body.this book is great and the food gives you a lot of energy in the day.

    Some good ideas but mostly all water

    The book's claim to fame is its classification of body types into slow or fast metabolisms, and the recommendation of foods for each type, and the idea that if you eat small portions often, the body doesn't go into fat storage mode but fat burning mode. There is no scientific or medical data offered to support that theory, however. The diet itself is small portions of healthy foods. The problem is that the weight loss after six days is almost entirely water: you can have no salt whatsoever, and must drink about twelve to fourteen glasses of water a day to keep the system flushed. So if you want to drop a lot of water weight quickly, this is a good approach. But if you throw a little salt on your food on day seven, the weight will likely come back.

    i have to be honest, i'm not done with my 6 days yet and i am already feeling and seeing the change with my body. i tried on some jeans that were snug a week ago, now they are fitting like they used to. this is a new way of eating for me....less is more!!! the recipes in the book taste great and are quick and easy, which for me being single are just what i need.
