Probably worthwhile if you have a car

I did a variation of one of the hikes listed in the book today (Cold Spring). The instructions worked fine, the prose reflected care, the information seems reliable.

Unfortunately the authors chose to ignore the many of us in NYC without cars and not only didn't provide mass transit suggestions, they don't even mark which hikes can be reached via public transportation (Cold Spring can be).

That was disappointing and upsetting. Another point was disappointing but not the authors' fault - I was hoping that the e-version would save carrying a book in my pack - but the e-version's maps aren't particularly readable. You'd probably arrange a map in any case, but for sure you'll have to with the e-version.
