    You need to have this book or one like it...

    ...if you want to make progress in learning Spanish. I know there are others like it out there. Two things I like about this one are:
    1). it gives a good overview explanation of Spanish verb tenses in the notes at the beginning of the book, and,
    2). there are many "memory tips" scattered around the book. There could actually be more of these.

    One suggestion I would make if you buy this book is to mark up the right-hand surface of the book (the surface made by the edges of the pages when the book is closed and placed on a table) with at least some of the letters of the alphabet, indicating the sections where they are in the book. For instance, I marked from A to F and then M, P, S and T. I do this with all my foreign language dictionaries. Many Japanese dictionaries come marked this way from the publisher. It can save you seconds for each look-up. These become minutes a day, hours per month.

    Invaluable for Spanish Learners

    I think that the hardest thing about learning a language is verb conjugation, and Spanish has a lot of conjugations! Although this book is a little light on the issue of when you should use a particular verb form (that isn't the main purpose of the book), I found it invaluable in my various writing assignments for my Spanish class. I had a smaller verb book before I bought this one, and found that often the verb I was looking to conjugate was not in there, which is why I bought this one and was glad that I did. The book is easy to use and clear; I highly recommend it.
