"At the end of the day a great melody is great but the lyrics are what makes a song timeless." Much of Seven was written on the road, a first for Iglesias, who co-penned every song and co-produced a handful. The album's first single, the passionate ballad "Addicted," was composed during the heartthrob's 2002 tour that took him throughout the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and the Middle East.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - John Bush
While on his Spanish-language albums Enrique Iglesias allows himself to focus on ballad material, his English albums must please a wider audience -- scattered Latin pop fans, straight pop listeners, Wal-Mart shoppers, and of course, his passel of female worshipers. 7 accomplishes all that and more, positioning Iglesias as not only a drop-dead pop crooner who whispers everything middle-aged housewives want to hear, but also as a hip, knowing postmodern vocalist closer to Kylie Minogue than Ricky Martin. Iglesias can please several crowds at once because, first of all, they're not that different and, second, his production team deftly arranges the hipness while he can remain the earnest balladeer. Alex Ander and Rob Davis, one of two main teams working on the record, quote freely but well: "California Callin'" is "The Boys of Summer" by way of New Order, while "The Way You Touch Me" and "Break Me Shake Me" are very good Fleetwood Mac rewrites. Given arrangements with teeth, Iglesias responds with a set of solid performances, ones that suit his audience but also offer something to listeners who aren't immediately captivated by the faraway look in his eyes on the cover. Pardon the occasional pandering lyric, as on "Free" (."..free to do the dirty things you like"), as well as the occasional awkward tenderness ("I was alone, grasping for my sanity/Your beauty came, free of vanity/Opened my mind, gave me your anatomy"), or that Latin cry he occasionally inserts into his voice; 7 is a solid pop album from an artist with someone to seduce, if not something to say.

I believe this Album was by far his best. Even better than Double Platinum Escape, I hope to see Seven go Triple. Enrique is such a wonderful artist, I hope someday people will stop underestimating him! With this album he has fully matured as an Artist. You won't find a finer Singer/Songwriter anywhere!! Good Luck Enrique!!

The super talented Latin Artist Mr. Enrique Iglesias surprises the wolrd once again with a great new cd. His new cd "7" which was released on Nov.25 was sold out almost everywhere. Mr. Iglesias from coming out as a pop singer gives a big drastic change with his music. Everyone was used to hearing Mr. Iglesias sing love songs. But wow did he surprises everyone with his super famous song "bailamos" and now he is back again with "7" a super hit cd with all his songs. I consider "7" as the best Cd of the year 2003 because everysong is just amazing.

From "Not in Love" to "Adicto," I've been putting my "Seven" on repeat all week! This album is really great.

Seven - is another good album by Enrique. The CD consists of rocky love songs to very slow love ballards, just brilliant. The lyrics to each song are good and the songs are easy to sing along to. The album is quite different to Escape, but just as good or even better. THUMBS UP.

I really enjoyed this album, because it was different.I think that this album also reflect more on what he is.It's so different than the one's that he has done prior,so it's taking me a while to get used to some of the songs.

This CD rocks! There are still a few ballads for those old-school Enrique fans, but he's changed his sound a little to reflect his love for the 80's. My faves are 'Roamer' and 'Free'. The songs have great beats and they are all so easy to sing along with. Enrique writes from the heart and that is extremely evident in his lyrics...this CD is a must have!!

Enrique's musical influence is the 80's and nothing shows it more clearly then this latest project which is a Classic Rock album with a techo-dance twist. He blends a fusion of rock and dance sounds with sexy raw vocals to make each song unique. He starts out with NOT IN LOVE in which he questions whether or not he is in love. ADDICTED ( ADICTO in Spanish ) SAY IT and WISH YOU WERE HERE WITH ME are songs about lost love. Other songs like THE WAY YOU TOUCH ME and FREE are anthems to passion and sex, especially FREE which is graphically explicit. BE YOURSELF is a lesson in believing in yourself enough to not let anyone get in the way of your dreams and goals in life. YOU ROCK ME, ROAMER, and LIVE IT UP TONIGHT are pure, upbeat rock songs, especially YOU ROCK ME which has a strong sexual theme to it. All in all, he captures the classic 80's Rock sound and gives it a new twist. For those of you who miss 80's Rock ( The best decade in American music ) this album is for you!

Enrique has grown with this album both musically and vocally, he's left behind the bubblegum '10 a penny' pop status that he gained with Escape. 7 is Rocky and it's Raunchy. Anyone who's got Enrique pegged as a pop balladeer should check out 7 and be prepared to be amazed!
