Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
In 7 Steps to a Pain-Free Life: How to Rapidly Relieve Back and Neck Pain Using the McKenzie Method, Robin McKenzie (Treat Your Own Back) explains that people suffer from lower back and neck pain when their lumbar and cervical lordosis (the curvature of the lower back and neck) is strained by poor posture or bending incorrectly to lift something. Through exercises that extend and flex the back and neck, he maintains, the reader can eliminate pain and the cost of frequent visits to a physical therapist or chiropractor. A new approach to spinal pain

I read this book, used the techniques and gained some relief. Some of the positions and exercises seemed risky but they worked. Imagine my surprise when my pain management doctor suggested the book and stated "it can not cause any harm." Now I have my experience of success, plus my trusted doctors blessing.
The book is well organized, has good pictures, and simple instructions. It would be good for a anyone with spinal pain: neck and/or back.
There are also descriptions and pictures of appropriate positions for work and rest. Maintaining good spinal position is essential in staying pain free once you get there. Old habits can lead to a reinjury.
There is a discussion of the qualities of good chairs, sofas, and beds.
This book would make a great gift for a friend or family member who has low back or neck pain.

Skip the Botox Shots and Try This!

I was diagnosed with Cervical Dystonia. The neurologist said I would need to come in for Botox shots every 6 months. I found this book, read it, practiced it to the letter and got great relief. I'm now functioning normally. Buy this book!

    Money well spent

I am an engineer working most of the time behind a computer. For about last five years I was suffering from a severe neck pain. Chiropractor visits were helping, but they cost a lot of money and time. This book save me a lot of money and time for not having to visit a chiropractor anymore. I am neck pain free for last two years using the McKenzie exercise methods. These exercises are very simple and take only a few minutes a day.

    AMAZING!!!

I heard about this book for a while and never read it. Then I herniated a disc in my back and nothing fixed...except these exercises. It was a miracle. If you have back pain you must read this book.

    Easy to understand

My physical therapist recommended this book to me. He is McKenzie certified, and this book explains how to do the McKenzie neck and back exercises. The explanations are thorough.

Didn't Help Me, But Others Like + Book Recommendation

Others swear by this book, but I didn't find it helpful. But it has so many fans I feel like must be something wrong with me.

Also, recommend Get Fit in Bed.

    Excellent techniques for neck spasm

I am a chronic neck spasm( I have spasm and not pain) patient. After using the techniques in this book, my spasms were much less, and my condition has improved considerably.
