The author, Patrick E.C. Merlevede, MSc (PatrickM@7EQ.com) If you read the editorial review and some of the customer reviews on this book, you might be tempted into thinking ¿oh, yet another NLP¿ book, or ¿oh, yet another Emotional Intelligence book¿. Well, to some extent it is, but also: to some extent it isn¿t. Personally, I find those views are quite reductionistic. This explains why we decided to drop the subtitle the publisher wanted to add, which was linking the book to NLP. Indeed, we all 3 have been certified as ¿NLP trainer¿, we all train NLP, either standard NLP programs (Denis & Rudy), either ¿applied¿ programs in the field of Emotional Intelligence, Management and Human Resources (Patrick). On the other hand, this book is written by 3 persons all having one or several master degrees (in linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, artificial intelligence, anthropology, ¿) and 2 of us were working towards a Ph.D. at the moment the book was written. We hope that it shows that the three of us each have one foot in theory and one foot in practice. How did this book come into existence? Asking ourselves the questions: ¿What is working?¿, and ¿Why does it work?¿, we linked back the principles of emotional intelligence and NLP to their theoretical base, being cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, neurology, etc. We did this in an ¿innovative¿ manner, in the tradition of Gregory Bateson: we shared our points of view, discussing them without feeling obliged to change. This led us to come up with some integrated models that are useful to teach people emotional intelligence. Finally, we packaged these models into 7 lessons, adding practical examples and exercises as well as references to theory and further reading. The result? A surprising book, even to each of the 3 authors: giving a ¿WOW, did we write that?¿ effect. It¿s a book neither of us could have written on our own, which is exactly the strength of this book. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as we do!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
