Overview

A moving, funny, tongue-in-cheek memoir about a woman who lost and found herself online.

Nancy Makin weighed an astounding 703 pounds in May 2000. She was forty-five and suffered from obesity-related maladies. Due to shame and logistics, she was homebound for a dozen years.

But all that changed when she received a computer. In cyberspace she found the friendliness, the connection, the acceptance and the nurturing she'd been missing for so long. She followed no particular diet plan; no surgeries, pills, potions or ab-crunching exercises played a part, and yet today Nancy has lost more than 530 pounds and kept it off for more than seven years. Her tale is one of redemption and shows a growing America that there is hope...if you believe.

    Good. With a nice message.

I thought this was a good book. Nancy's message was good too. I thought there was some slower parts, but overall it was nice. I think people with weight problems (like myself) to read her story. Its uplifting and funny. She has a smartass attitude that I like.

    Loved it!

Well written. Just wish there were pictures of Nancy, before and after her emormous weight loss. It is so difficult to comprehend someone losing over 500 pounds. What an accomplishment! I find it difficult to lose 20 pounds! She is an inspiration to anyone trying to lose weight.

    Inspiring!

Nancy Makin is a treasure and her book is a gift. Nancy's story will inspire you to not only better yourself, but to be a kinder human being. An honest account of her life in seclusion and her rebirth. Nancy reminds us that anyhting is possible when we learn to believe in ourselves. This is not a diet book, but a must-read feel-good story of one amazing woman's journey in life.
