The Saints remain one of the more underrated punk outfits from the mid- to late '70s. Perhaps geography had something to do with it (after all, not a lot of A&R reps from the U.S. were racing to Australia to sign punk bands at the time), because the Saints have issued some of rock's all-time classics, specifically their debut, 1977's (I'm) Stranded. If you're looking for a Saints compilation that digs deeper than just the standards, the 1999 double-disc Big Hits from the Underground is a solid career overview. The title track from (I'm) Stranded kicks things off -- and remains one of punk's all-time great tracks -- which is then followed by such other gems as "No Time," ...
