I have to admit, I went into reading 8 WEEKS with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I'm a big fan of Ms. Lopez's books and writing style. On the other, I have very strong feelings on this particular book's subject matter. Cheating is a deal-breaker for me, so knowing the story centers around a character who does just that made me hesitate. I'm so glad I gave this book a chance. It allowed me to see the gray lines that can sometimes exist when cheating is involved. The reactions of the characters felt real, and I found myself connecting with them and rooting for them. It was an emotional journey that I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to see what awaits these characters and their friends in the next book!

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the bond between all of the friends, and the fact that this story wasn't as cookie cutter obvious as most other romance novels. The fact that the story is about a married couple seemed more relatable than the, 'love-at-first-sight/perfect people," stories. I commend the author for stepping out of the box, though I thought there were many more better turns this story could have taken. I'm excited t read the next book.

This book was awful. How old was Shelly 13? She sure acted like it. I did not like the writer's style of writing. It was too dry and boring and kept going back to the same thing, poor little Shelly! It got annoying. I will not be reading anymore books from this author. She seems immature and lacking.

This is the story of a broken marriage. Cal got drunk in Vegas and cheated on his wife, Shelly. It's understandable that Shelly would want a divorce, after all the guy did betray her trust. However, Cal refuses to give up, so he's asking her for 8 weeks of Saturday-night dates (so, basically, 8 dates) to prove he'll do anything to gain her trust and prove his love for her. Personally, I wouldn't have agreed to this, but it was the only way Shelly would get her divorce. Apparently, these two had an intense and "undying" love. You could tell by how whiny the two get about the fall of their relationship. Story mostly revolves around the rebuilding of a relationship, which I thought moved kinda slow. Cal is so desperate to get his wife back that it almost gets annoying, turning off the reader. Mainly this was about two people missing each other and wanting what they had back. This is an okay story of reuniting.

After “possibly” making the worse mistake a married man can make, Cal asks Shelly to give him 8 weeks to show her how much he loves her. Cal hopes to save his marriage with 8 dates; he plans 8 Saturday nights in an attempt to win back the love of his young wife. That can’t be too challenging, right? 8 Weeks is a quick and smooth read or listen; the characters are well developed and the writing is superb. This group of young adults will have someone to remind us all of one of our friends. I liked the story and would recommend this book to anyone who like romance, or just for a quick and fun read. I still want to know what really happened in Vegas, but the story was fine without knowing. Overall, 8 Weeks is a strong 4.5 Boundless Stars....Beth

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall: 3 Narration: 3 Story: 3 Let me start with some kudos for the author: infidelity always creates a visceral reaction for readers, and Lopez does manage to present the story with scenarios that are plausible, and all the more unsettling for that fact. For eight years, since high school in fact, Shelly and Cal have been “a couple”, and they married right out of high school. A group of closely knit friends, all see Shelly and Cal as “the perfect couple”, and their love for one another is clear. But a weekend bachelor party in Vegas leaves Cal naked and alone with a strange woman: he returns to ‘tell all’ to Shelly, even though he has no memory of any infidelity. She, understandably, leaves him and runs home to her father. This is the compromise: she will agree to 8 dates, one a week, with Cal, as he tries to atone. Concept is clever, emotional attraction is evident: but I had several issues with the construct. No relationship is “perfect’, yet the cracks and fissures one would expect are non-existent. Shelly is immature and pouty, and she felt more interested in punishing than forgiving. For his part – Cal bounced between hair-shirted penitent and foolish – not knowing if there was a “moment” in Vegas – his first stop should have been to the clinic for a health exam. He didn’t. It was never an issue. Their interactions were honest in a limited and surface way: it was as if in eight years they NEVER had an issue or problem, and neither knew how to function. Perfect people are boring, perfect relationships are unrealistic. And, with the friends: everyone is still in the same town, still friends – despite the passage of time? People grow and move forward…. Friendly yes, best friends always…yeah, not so much. But perhaps I pick too much: the brevity of the story missed those integral moments of tension and growth from both that I wanted. It’s clever, it’s just one step down from ‘light’, entertaining and unique. But, like candy floss, it’s tasty but ultimately something is missing… Narration is provided by Beth Stewart, and she does a wonderful job presenting each character with a unique sound and delivery – but there were accents that I didn’t expect given the history of this particular group, and I was wondering about that choice. Yes, it did delineate characters, but in a way that was not indicated in the book. She did, however, bring that petulant and pouty tone to Shelly: somehow a key to her behavior throughout. I received an AudioBook copy of the title via AudioBook Blast for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Poor Cal wakes up in Vegas, hungover, naked and not alone in the hotel room. What happened? Did he sleep with her? Did he not? He can't remember! Poor Shelly, she is beyond hurt and wants a divorce. She never would of expected this from Cal-the love of her life. Cal begs for a second chance but not Shelly wants a divorce now!!! Cal convinces her to give him 8 dates in 8 weeks to prove that he loves and wants her back at any cost. I usually do not like books that deal with cheating on any level. However, what was so different for me was the fact that I feel in love with the characters in this book. I loved Cal and Shelly's group of 4 other friends. I want more! I want to see how the story ends!!!!! Received book for an honest review

Wow....I'm not really sure how to rate this one. On one hand I really loved the overall story, the author's voice and writing style. On the other hand the lead female character annoyed me so much it was frustrating. Putting my own personal frustrations aside though, I must say it's a great story of betrayal, love, and an undying belief in that love. After one drunken night in Vegas, Cal wakes with a major league hangover, no memory of the night before, and to his utter disgust, a naked woman strolling out of his bathroom. Returning home later that day, Cal knows he has to tell his wife. Knows she'll be hurt and disappointed, but never does he expect her to pack up and walk out on him. After much begging, he gets her to give him eight weeks to show her why they belong together! I would recommend this one. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very emotionally felt felt read! That Cal and Shelly are extremely believable characters. The romance is amazing, not your everyday smut..(lol). How can one fix one night's regret in 8 weeks? Do you think it can or will happen? You must read this book! It's well worth it! *Received for an honest review*

Shelly has loved Cal since they started dating in the eleventh grade. Everyone told them they wouldn't make it...they were too young. They got married after graduation anyway. Cal went to Vegas with his buddies for a bachelor party and made the biggest mistake of his life. Shelly is devastated and tells Cal she wants a divorce. Cal asks for 8 weeks...8 dates to remind her why they love each other and belong together. 8 Weeks is a sweet story about one mistake derailing your whole life but realizing things aren't always what they seem. Although I wish it were a bit longer I don't think it would have worked. Although at times the writing seemed a bit childish and immature I thoroughly enjoyed Cal and Shelly's journey of growth, faith, and forgiveness. I really enjoy the fact that they tried to actually work through it and work on their marriage noticing other things that weren't working as well. I will most definitely continue on with Bethany Lopez's series. *Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock!

Ok, let's start with first that I am a big fan of Bethany Lopez and her NA stories. Right from the first chapter I was reeled in to find out how Cal was going to fix that major screw up. But the more I read the more I got frustrated and had mixed feelings about the story. It felt like Cal and Shelly were children playing grownups. I totally got Shelly's reaction but I started to get so frustrated with her that she was being so immature and wouldn't even listen to Cal or have a conversation about what did or didn't happen. For Cal I liked him from start to finish even with his screw up. I can't imagine ever having to go through what they went through from either side but Cal always seemed to be the more mature of the two. "No wonder you're so quick to give up ... I thought we were in a partnership, Shel. I've never expected you to ask my permission to do anything. I love you, for who you are, and I want you to do what makes you happy." With this break came the realization that all was not perfect in their grown up marriage and this just forced them to deal with it properly so they can grow up and move on. I LOVED the idea of this story but their immaturity especially Shelly drove me a bit batty at times causing me to get frustrated and not enveloped into the story. However if you like NA then I think this series has loads of potential. This book was about trust, forgiveness, love and second chances. It's also about fighting for something worthwhile when all things could be lost no matter having the proper knowledge or not. Even though this was a NA book it felt more like YA emotions with sex thrown in. Not saying that's a bad thing but I was left wanting more maturity and depth from this book.

4,5 Butterflies!! I   would like to declare my unconditional love for Bethany Lopez. You may ask yourself why would I say something like that? Well... I really love their story, it was so deep and emotional, and I don't speak just about their break up.... In the first place, we have a loving and faithful wife, Shelly who waits patiently his return from his best friend bachelor party, only to be given an information that will change her life... Her loving, faithful, beautiful husband has betrayed her in the worst way a wife can be betrayed by her half... ladies, you know what I mean... But whats even worse in this situation is that they have been married for six years and it was their marriage anniversary, a special day in the life of a woman, a day that she should celebrate with her husband and have a little fun, away from troubles and problems, but all that disappear in one night, with a mistake that it will cost them their happiness and their future, because Shelly wanted a future with Cal, a future that includes children and grandchildren and dogs, cats and a beautiful home. Shelly wanted a family, but it can be possible because it's too hard to think of her husband with another woman, who had him in her arms, who received his kisses, who had him, all of him... It's hard to watch her despair, the ruin of her marriage, how just one night can destroy a eight years old relationship based on true love and happiness. More than that, even their friends are on the middle  of this separation, because Cal's best friends,TJ and Scott, have been friends with Shelly's best friends, Sasha and Gab. With all this drama, her husband becomes more and more desperate to obtain Shelly's forgiveness and so he comes out with a plan to make her give him another chance. The plan is to let him spend eight weeks, eight dates, with him and together to rediscover their passion's flame, to make her see that they are destined one to other and together to make their marriage work again... It seems a impossible task, but Cal's tenacity and with their friends help, he discover that Shelly's dependence on him was very powerful and even if they were happy, Shelly's liberty was just an idea, because she wasn't comfortable enough  in her own skin to do what she wanted to do, like piercing, for example, or to sing in public in a public place... Characters: Shelly- in the start of this story, she was a happy, but just a copy of her husband's desire, she didn't really stand on her own toes. But, we can't fault her, because she was very young when their romance started, just sixteen years and so very innocent, but now that she's a single woman she wants to explore new things, to see and feel more, to be more for her and maybe, just maybe, it will be enough for her husband too... Cal- she loves with all his heart his wife, but he's confused, not about his feelings....no, that it's whats eating him, he never wanted to hurt her, and the joke is that he doesn't even remember what happened that night- just that he was drinking, and being lightweight, he wanted to retire to his room, so he left his friends at that party, and next thing he knows, it's morning and he's naked, and  a hot woman is leaving his room. But that is all he remembers... I loved his determination and how he was willing to sacrifice anything to make Shelly smile. Cal was gentle and patient, not pushing or defending himself, he just wanted to make her happy and be with her... Sasha&TJ- this is a couple destined to happen... Sasha is fierce, loyal to her friends and will make mountains move if is necessary, but she also happens to see man like a piece of meat and nothing more. TJ- is her masculine copy, he's sarcastic, macho and will do anything to have the woman he wanted in his bed, but just for one night. Complications? He hates that word... Gabby&Scott- I sooo hope that we will see their story, even though , in this novel we don't have sparks flying around when it comes to them. More so because Scott is engaged to another woman, but I have a feeling that she's going to be out of that picture. Final Decision- A story about friendship and how not all marriages are happy like it seems. Us, as a couple, or just as a single person we will have always something to learn, and it's more beautiful, if we have someone special to help us achieve everything we want. 8 Weeks is a story about how to forgive and forget, but also a journey to find yourself and your happy ending.

8 Weeks is a good book that really takes an in depth look on how adultery can affect not just the marriage itself, but the relationships of both families and friendships. Cal and Shelly had a lot to lose, and Cal had a lot to prove.
