When I died, I didn't flow through a long, dark tunnel. I had no sense of fading away or of coming back. I never felt my body being transported into the light. I heard no voices calling to me or anything else. Simultaneous with my last recollection of seeing the bridge and the rain, a light enveloped me, with a brilliance beyond earthly comprehension or description. Only that. In my next moment of awareness, I was standing in heaven. Joy pulsated through me as I looked around, and at that moment I became aware of a large crowd of people. They stood in front of a brilliant, ornate gate. I have no idea how far away they were; such things as distance didn't matter. As the crowd rushed toward me, I didn't see Jesus, but I did see people I had known. As they surged toward me, I knew instantly that all of them had died during my lifetime. Their presence seemed absolutely natural. They rushed toward me, and every person was smiling, shouting, and praising God. Although no one said so, intuitively I knew they were my celestial welcoming committee. It was as if they had all gathered just outside heaven's gate, waiting for me.

great book of strength and comfort

the arthur don piper who is also a minister was hit head on by a big semi truck and declared dead in the hospital and this preacher got to spend 90 minutes in heaven and for some remarkable reason was allowed to come back and share what God wanted him to see. I think this is a very inspirational book that will be able to help many people that will not only strenthen their faith but help those that are in times of hurting.this little book is small enough to fit in a persons pocket and has some peaceful Bible verses as well as some special comments by don piper. great gift idea for a friend or family member or soldier serving over seas.

Very powerful story about life and death!

90 minutes in heaven is a very touching story about a preacher named Don Piper who gets in a terrible car wreck. Medical attention was sought as soon as possible, but when they finally arrived, they stated that Don had died instintaneously. However, another preacher stopped at the wreck and felt that he was supposed to pray for Don, even though he was already pronounced dead. So that's exactly what he did. During all of this, Don is getting to experience the amazing glory of Heaven. He gets to see all of his passed away family members and friends, all who welcome him with the purest love he has ever felt. He is awed by Heaven's beauty and its music, and he hadn't even made it through the gate yet! He only made it to the gate, before his 90 minutes in Heaven was up. He returned back to Earth, for reasons he himself did not understand, but he had faith in God, even when it was extremely hard to do so during his gruesome recovery. I absolutely loved this book. It makes you think and reconsider death, and wonder why so many people are afraid of it. It also serves as a little bit of proof for those people who are really struggling with believing in God and all his unseen (from the Earth atleast) glories. But this book is also more than just a story about Heaven. Its also inspirational and motivational. Most of us probably can't even begin to imagine the pain and suffering that Don went through during his recovery. At some points all he wanted to do was die. But he kept pushing through, and now he's changing many people's lives with his story. I would definitely recommend this book to pretty much anybody. It's a very good book and I'm so glad that I chose to read it.

    Its More than great

I read this book thinking most of it was going to be about his experience in Heaven. In fact he discovers that he can not enter because it is not his time. He never goes in heaven; but his experience outside the pearly gates are much more than he has words for.
It does talk about his recovery most of the book and towards the end it was more difficult to read, However I did get so much from this book. It shows us no matter where we are in life we can always learn more.
Anyone has the ability to accept God into their heart and go to heaven, but that doesn't mean we cant learn more.
I give it 5 stars because of the learning experience and excellent story.

    Recommend with reservations

The description of heaven as experienced by the writer is worth the price of the book. The remainder of the book, however, is the detail of his recovery and experiences following his accident, which is rather ho-hum.

Nice book, nice splot, i can compare this one only with a crossing or the drop's history by Anatoliy Obraztsov. Because both of them were the best books I read this year.

    Extremely Disappointing

Seems like a short visit to heaven, and a long recovery, of which seemed more of a "poor me" cry than much else.

    Very Good

The title of this book is a little misleading. It makes you think the book is about time spent in Heaven, but in fact that is only a short part of the book at the begining. It's more about the stages of recovery that the author went through after a horrible car accident. The disapointment of being sent back to earth, the intense pain caused by his injuries, the depression he went through during his rehabilation. How his life changed not only physically but mentally as well. I could relate so well to what he has written since going through something similar with a loved one. Every mental battle Don Piper went through, my loved one went through as well. This is a wonderful book. It also shows what compassion we have for each other. I think anyone who has gone through a life changing accident (or knows someone who has) should read this book.

    Great Story!

This is a GREAT story. It's not well written, but it's definitely worth a read. The description of his experience in Heaven is fairly short but it's enough to capivate and amaze you. You will want more and you will want to reread those pages. I enjoyed it ... It gave me reassurance on Heaven!

    inspirational trip into heaven

this is a very remarkable book. a Baptist minister don piper was hit head on by a very large truck and was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead however he went to heaven for 90 minutes and saw some amazing and beautiful things and was able to share the lords vision of heaven. perhaps I think this little book offers alot of hope since many people have been through death and have been hurt and this little bestseller backs up the scriptures and perhaps I think God might have given him to give others alittle courage and strenthen their time of faith whean its coming down so hard. great gift idea for a friend or family member.

    A reviewer

I read this book in one day. As I'm reading it, the words felt like they were directed to just me. I know that this is just another reassurance that God is real and Heaven is a real place that is waiting for me. And you. My father passed away a month ago and I'm struggling with the idea of Heaven. I know that when you read this book, you too will find comfort in knowing that those to whom we love who have passed on are truly in Heaven and undoubtedly happy. I know that my words cannot describe the peace that I have knowing that my dad is free and happy. This book is one way that I can find comfort. So, trust your heart, believe in Heaven and know that we'll all be free from our worries, pressures and stress someday. We'll all be together. That's what I'm excited about.

    Worth the Time

What a story. Worth the money and time it takes to read. Leaves you wanting more information about heaven but I guess that is what this man was shown to tell.
