99 Musings of a Dogeared Pilgrim
99 Musings is for men and women who desire to know God and follow Jesus with authenticity and integrity. The first disciples were far from perfect, and yet God called them, loved them, equipped them, picked them up when they struggled, and blessed them. As was true for them so it is possible for us today. The Musings seek to inspire, encourage, sometimes challenge, and, most importantly, remind the reader of God's faithfulness, even when circumstance don't make sense. Written in contemporary language, each Musing is relevant and easily applied to today's world. This is not a book of spiritual idealism and abstraction but rather a work that tries to make sense of the teachings of Jesus, the promises of God, and the power of the Holy Spirit. It is about a kind and loving God who is a Father. He wants to walk alongside us in our lives with his presence and power. He delights in us where we are, and he is not interested in our being perfect, trying harder, keeping rules, or performing. His focus is on friendship and relationship from which all else flows—and that is the heart of these Musings.

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

“Through these musings, John speaks of the difference between knowing the word and living it. To experience the ‘life to the fullest’ offered by God requires those words of Scripture to travel from our minds to our hearts. . . . These musings help place this journey in perspective and show how and why it matters.”

—Wayne Bernard, Special Needs Caregiver/Sportsman

“These writings will challenge, confront, comfort, affirm, give practical wisdom, and always bring you closer to Father God. John writes with relevance and clarity, simplifying complex issues and stripping away religiosity, revealing a fresh truth in how . . . discovering the true nature of God will help us connect with each other and with God more meaningfully than we ever imagined possible.”

—Lynn Burnip, retired Hospital Administrator

“John has the gift of words and the ability to bring the Bible and Jesus’ teachings into personal and real-life experiences. He shows us how to apply these teachings to our lives and access the power of the Holy Spirit in an authentic and practical way without being ‘preachy’ or religious. I really enjoyed reading John’s ninety-nine musings and have incorporated them into my daily devotions.”

—Greg Candy, retired Pharmacist

“John is a gifted writer and speaker who loves to encourage disillusioned people to check out the good news in a world of bad news. His musings are brief, thoughtful, and continually engaging. This book will strengthen your own spiritual life.”

—Ed Hird, coauthor of Blue Sky

“Gathered from a lifetime of experience and observations, these musings offer a refreshing and different take on many areas of life. Easy to read, thoughtful, and provoking reflection—they are both challenging and encouraging.”

—William Bates, University of Stellenbosch
