About the Author

Perquimans County Library and Perquimans County Restoration Association, with Raymond A. Winslow Jr., have collaborated to tell the story of their home. Perquimans County Library has served the community for more than 65 years. Perquimans County Restoration Association has promoted the cultural heritage of the county since 1969 and operates the 1730 Newbold-White House: A Colonial Quaker Homestead. Raymond A. Winslow Jr., author, historian, and editor, traces his roots in Perquimans County through nine generations. The authors brilliantly present a bygone era that differs only slightly from the present day with 200 vintage photographs borrowed from private collections. The historical images show Perquimans County at work, school, worship, and play in town and on the water. Perquimans County includes remembrances of momentous events of yesteryear, buildings that no longer exist, and individuals who shaped local history.
