I couldn't stop laughing - check it out!!!

In this book you'll find the work of some of the most famous children's poets in the world. The book's editor, Bruce Lansky, had teachers and their students choose the poems for this book. That is why kids like me find the poems so hilarious. There are nine groups of poems: All about Me, All in the Family, Off to School we Go, What's for Dinner, Critters, Tall Tales, Tongue Twisters, Mixed-Up Mother Goose, and Time for Bed. My favorite categories were All about Me and Mixed-Up Mother Goose. All about Me tells about the funny way little kids think. For example, in my favorite poem, Smart, the kid trades a $1 bill for two quarters because he thinks that many coins are better than one bill. Mother Goose tales are very funny because they are simple common songs with new hilarious lyrics. The matching illustrations are as funny as the poems. I couldn't put this humorous book down until I read all of them!

    Children Love it!!!!

I have owned this book since i was seven years old. My Uncle bought it for me while i was in the hospital. I am twenty-one now and i still love this book. I am a third grade religious education teacher and i am am in college to become a teacher. During my fieldwork i get to work one on one with many different students. I bring in this book for my students to pick a poem and read and they absolutly love it. This book is a hit everytime i use it.

    The kids love it!

I have a large collection of poems for kids and I love this one because it's in the voice of kids! As a teacher, my students laugh out loud and understand the humor. If you want to get the giggles and the imaginations going, use these poems to inspire young writers.

    Very uneven

Some of the poems in this collection are great. Who can question the brilliance of Shel Silverstein? Why then are we subjected to having a great like Shel having to share these pages with poetry that reads like it was written by children, not for children. The chief perpetrator of painful (to read) poetry is the editor himself, who should have know better than to insert his amateurish efforts into this collection. If you want to read Shel Silverstein, buy his collections. I can think of no reason to buy this pastiche of real children's poetry books.
