Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heidi Hauser Green
From the irascible Duck to the crooning cows, the past decade has found Farmer Brown's farmyard animals working their way into the canon of children's literature. The cows may sing "dooby dooby moo" and the sheep might add "fa la la la baaaa," but children everywhere cry "More, more, more!" That is why it would be frustrating if this book were separated from its dust jacket. With no table of contents and no list on the front or back covers, readers must rely on the blurb inside the front cover of the dust jacket if they wish to quickly know which stories of the Cronin-Lewin collaboration have been included in this collection and which have not. (The sole exception to this is "Click, Clack, Moo" which is noted in the volume's subtitle.) Still, what pleasure to have these three hit books together in a single volume. Be prepared. Reading them aloud at bedtime, you will never be able to stop at one. Surely your listener will clamor and croon until you read all three. Is there a problem with that? Reviewer: Heidi Hauser Green
