First things first, you are going to be irritated reading this book. You're going to feel like there's loose ends that are NEVER EVER going to be tied up. There are times you're going to be like "seriously, how is this suspenseful!! how do they NOT see what's coming?!" The majority of the time what I expected to happen didn't actually happen. There was only once where I guessed correctly. You're going to think "Well that was unexpected and completely different." You're going to fall in love with Garrett and want to beat Parker over the head for being an idiot, then turn around and do the same thing with Garrett...I was literally screaming "hello, haven't you people ever heard of adult conversations?! Geesh, get it together!" BUT, then you'll realize WHY they weren't talking and realize the way Ms. Sivec wrote it was perfect.
Finally, spend the money for this book - but don't start it unless you have about two hours to read 300+ pages in one sitting.
Tara Sivec is an amazing author and there were times while reading this I wondered if this is the same Tara Sivec I fell in love with. This book is completely different come her normal work and truly shows the diversity this author has to offer the world. I felt like this was tied up so well, I am not sure how there is going to be a series. BUT, it is Tara Sivec and she is amazing so I'm not going to think about that too deeply and just eagerly await her next book.

“When something you’ve wanted for as long as you can remember is finally yours, you have a hard time believing it’s real…You find yourself wondering if it’s just a dream and in one careless moment it will all be taken away from you.”
I so did not see this one coming and it hit me like a freight train. I did not go into this book with blinders on. I was not expecting a humorous book, I was not expecting another book in the Chocolate Lovers series, in fact, I really wasn’t sure what I was expecting. This book was so much more than anything I could have imagined. This book was such a change of pace from the Chocolate Lovers that I was used to, I wasn’t even sure how to begin my review.
The trouble with a book like this, I could talk about it for hours, but unless you have read it, I am bound to spoil something. This book has more twist and turns than a rollercoaster, but it was so worth the ride!
I will start with my only hardship reading this book… third person. It took a bit to adjust to, but once I did, I was blown away. This book was so much more than I could have hoped for. It was beautiful. If that was my biggest complaint about the book and I recovered from it quickly, I would say T.E. Sivec has nothing to worry about with this one.
The story of this book starts when Parker is in college. She meets her two best friends in the world, Garrett and Milo. For eight years, their friendship grew strong and nothing was going to change that. Then it happens, they lose one when Milo dies tragically. Parker and Garrett’s bond grows even stronger after the death of their dear friend. Parker and Garrett head to the Dominican Republic to try and get the ultimate question answered, why?
The more they searched for answers, the faster I turned the pages. You can avoid falling in love with your best friend, assuming he is not a hot guy in a uniform with an amazing personality. Definitely boyfriend material…but do you honor the death of your other friend and remain neutral in your relationship, or do you take a chance? They both knew how they felt individually, but would revealing those feelings ruin it for them? I hope not, because the scenes between Parker and Garrett were just plain hot.
Even as each lie is uncovered and revealed and the truth becomes more and more unreal, I still left wanting more, not knowing where the story would lead. The thing I loved most about this book, is knowing that there is another book coming! I couldn’t get enough of the plot, the characters, the Navy Seals, the CIA, the bad guys, the good guys and the tropical location…
I was a huge fan of Sivec’s Chocolate Lovers series, I knew this book was going to be more serious than the Chocolate books, but I was still surprised at how drastic of a change this book was and how amazing it still was. I went from laughing so hard I was crying with the Chocolate Lovers books to sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what else could possibly happen in A Beautiful Lie.
Sivec is an amazing author and was able to make this change in styles seamlessly. This book is probably one of the best books I have read in a while and I am so glad I did. I fell in love with it… all the Beautiful Lies and amazing characters.
Thank you, T.E. Sivec, for this book. It is definitely one that will be in my library for a long time!

This book sorely needs an editor, there are many misspellings and omitted words. The characters in this story are some of the least intelligent I have encountered. Sorry but I can't recommend this book as a good read for anyone.

While it took a little while for me to adjust to the author's style of writing I quickly became burned out with the same things being repeated over & over between the main characters. The story was good, I enjoyed it, it was steamy in parts, kept me intrigued, just the repetitiveness of the emotions between the main characters made me give this book a 3 star rating.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I've loved all of her other books, and if you haven't read those you really should. This book/series isn't funny, it isn't cute, it isn't going to make you laugh out loud in the middle of the night and wake up your husband.
This book/series is going to make you anxious, and thoughtful, and angry, but more just plain glad you read it. I was worried at first seeing as it's such different type of book from her others, but she easily pulls off the thriller/suspence genre, just as well as more established authors like Patterson.
I don't know her, but I feel PROUD of her, especially after reading the acknowledgements in the front and seeing she was actually nervous about putting it out there. I cannot wait for the others!!

Reread this book again. This was my first read from TS and I will never regret it... My life is soso much better now after reading most of her books, and believe me, TS doesn't disappoint...
Keep writing, I'll keep reading..

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. The story itself was wonderful and the mystery throughout the read is what kept me interested. There were a few unexpected twists throughout the story that I really liked. The characters were great, some of them being different than what I was expecting. I did have one major probably while reading this book, it made it harder for me to really dive into it. There book is written in multiple POVs and is constantly going back and forth from present time and the past. It really got confusing for me sometimes and I didn't enjoy the book as much as I could have because of this. Though it took me longer than usual to read, I pushed through because of the story, and I'm glad I did. The ending was awesome. Though I am willing to read more, I'm not as excited to do so as I have been with many other books. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I don't have the highest standards, but this book reads like it was written by a horny 12 year old boy. It describes the characters, but we don't get to actually know them.

I really enjoyed this book!! It had so many twists and turns, I never knew what was coming next! Just when I thought I had it figured out, something would happen to blow that idea out of the water. I loved the story of Garrett and Parker. Again, you never knew what was going to happen next. This book is full of passion, action, intrigue and love! It is very different from the other books I have read of Tara's. I highly recommend it-I have read it more than once! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. It took me a little bit to get into A Beautiful Lie. I had a hard time finding a flow with the narration style, I felt a little disconnected to the characters because of it. But when I did get caught up in the story I was really swept away with where the plot line was going to go.
There were quite a few secrets/twists in this book. Actually, that’s a lie, there were a f-ton of them. The first few were hinted at quite a bit. To the point I think everyone will see them coming, but there are quite a few that just blew me out of the water. They came from left field and I was not expecting the story to go in that direction at all. In a good way.
There were periods of the book (especially in the beginning) where I did find myself almost bored at times. The story seemed to drag at points. The background kept getting piled on as the story went on almost like we needed more reasons to dislike the “bad guy” so the author kept throwing more on the pile. In the beginning there was so much description text and the couple going back and forth on their feelings for one another. I promise it does get better and once we have most of the background information the story picks up.
I liked both main characters for the most part. There were a few times that I thought Garrett was treated almost stupid (even though he’s a SEAL) while Annabelle was portrayed as this super smart person in her field. Annabelle was a strong woman, but I didn’t really feel the love for her until she started to show a little vulnerability. I suppose it helped her feel more real to me and therefore I was able to form a connection. In the end they really are the perfect couple. I can’t tell you why, but you should read and find out.
Like I mentioned there is a big twist toward the end and the book quickly becomes action packed, it just takes a while to get there. I was completely wrapped up in the action scenes and don’t let me steer you wrong, the sex is good too. Really it has everything we need in a good read.
A Beautiful Lie is free right now so why are you still reading this review… go one-click that!

As I am sure you have heard by now, Tara Sivec – Author of the AWESOME Chocolate Lovers Series (click here to go to my Tara Sivec Author Page) has released her first novel “A Beautiful Lie” under her pen name T.E. Sivec. Under T.E. Sivec, she delves into a more serious genre that is her absolute favorite to read – romantic suspense. She loves reading a book and feeling her heart speed up with anticipation and wanted to be able to give that feeling to her fans.
And that is exactly what she did!!!!! Tara delivered that feeling for me.
There was a time when I read a lot more romantic suspense novels. If I did not already know that this was Tara’s first novel in this genre, I would have been floored! She was right up there for me with all the other well-known authors that I have read in this genre – at points I certainly enjoyed this story more. This series is not to be compared to Tara’s Chocolate Lovers Series (which was a favorite for me), as it is a totally different genre. But Tara taking the leap to write “A Beautiful Lie” goes to show that she has the talent to venture into another genre and did it effortlessly.
It had a little slower of a start, but I am ok with that. I rather have the character development and flashback stories so that I can really feel connected to the characters and their story. I had a sense that things were going to kick up into high gear….but I had to patiently wait for it. So, for some that need to get sucked into a book in the first several pages……..I am telling you to WAIT FOR IT……
This book kept me wanting to read to find out all the answers and to figure out what the heck was going on. It was full of action, suspense, twists, turns and those OMG surprising moments when you start to get your answers……and the good news is YOU WILL get your answers in THIS BOOK, they just might not be what you expect them to be. Of course, let me not forget to tell you that T.E. can write a steamy romance scene….oh my……they will not disappoint ;-)
Although some readers find it confusing to follow a book switching back and forth from different character’s point of views, it was not too hard to follow for me. I really do enjoy getting into the characters heads and to know how they are feeling (Isn’t that why we get all sucked into buying a sequel to a book because it is in the point of view of the male crush in the book?). I am one who likes to have the point of view switch back and forth, even though it was a little confusing. I loved to have the inside scoop what was going on in Parker and Garrett’s heads. Even though I kept trying to tell them to do something about it already! (I don’t want to give anything away here)
I really loved the characters Parker and Garrett. I love a book with a strong, smart, independent, kick-ass heroine……and Parker is her…….we don’t see nearly enough of them. Then there is Garrett, ok ladies you have to get ready for this one because he is going to be another one of your “book boyfriends”! He had so many qualities that WILL have you wanting more!
Will all of the pain, longing and regrets be worth it? Go pick up your copy of “A Beautiful Lie” and tell us. It is a read that is sure to keep you on your toes and paying attention to the details.

I haven't finished reading this book yet, but needed to leave a rating now because it's bothering me so much. There are so many grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors in this ebook. I am struggling to read this although I am enjoying the story. Please, I implore you, either hire a new editor, or retrain the one you have...

I loved chocolate series. This book felt like it was from different author. Since she didn't use his/her pov it was confusing sometimes and I had to track myself back to read whose those thoughts belonged. Also the plot was a little 007 unrealistic. Was this review helpful? I have to say after reading all the reviews that I was really looking forward to reading this book. It was okay. The beginning was slow and almost read like a text book. You know, your reading it, comprehending it, but it drags. I actually heard the words "blah blah blah" in my head. When the book finally picks up, I wasn't invested enough to enjoy it. I really don't know if I will try this author again. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I loved this book. I am all for a love story, and a little roll in the sack, but sometimes it is just way overdone. This book was not like that for me. There was love, sex, AND A PLOT. I couldn't read it fast enough. THe story line really drew me in and I couldn't wait for these characters to admit their feelings for one another. The ending was intense to say the least! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
