About the Author

Alex Law is lead tutor on the Advanced Upholstery Course at the London Metropolitan University. The course is renowned for the nationally recognized awards his students pick up every year. Alex has worked in Europe and Canada, learning new techniques and other traditions. He also runs his own business, upholstering and designing furniture from a barn in the Kent village of Throwley.

Posy Gentles has been a journalist for 20 years. Six years ago, she took upholstery classes with the aim of rescuing a small nursing chair she inherited from her grandmother. Since then, her passion has been such that she has even snapped up armchairs and sofas left on the street for rubbish collection.
