A Bitch Called Hope is the poker term for drawing the queen-eight in Texas Hold ‘Em. There’s not enough luck in the world to build a winning hand with those cards, but it’s so tempting to try.

Meet Lennox Cooper. She’s a smart poker player, a smart detective, but she’s got issues. A year ago her affair with a married cop got her fired from the Portland Police. Now she’s trying to build a new life as a private investigator, but all she’d landed so far are surveillance gigs.

The murder of a wealthy developer gives her a chance to reestablish herself as a homicide detective. During the course of the investigation she meets Mr. Right. Only problem, he’s on the short list of suspects. Lennox bets on her lover’s innocence. The odds aren’t much better than drawing A Bitch Called Hope.

    MORE! More, more...

Interesting and real characters, and plot that moves along at great pace....what more could I ask for? Would really like more of this author and more of Lennox...gotta love someone named after Moms' china....I could have been named Spode, heaven forbid.

    low recommendation

Certainly not a read to want you to see what happens next. It got rather tiring. Would not recommend. There were a couple of funny moments, but for me, not enough to recommend

    Fair

My only comment is, "it is a light read". It certainly is not worth
much more than what I paid for it (2.99)

    Very entertaining

I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining, a pretty decent mystery. It kept me guessing. I would definitely recommend it. Decent ending. Not romantic, but still pretty upbeat. Sometimes I wanted to so the v8 pop on the head and ask the main character what her deal was, but she was pretty realistic.

It could have been so much better.

I felt like I was reading a long, short story. It was predictable right up to the end. It was hard to feel comfortable with the characters as they weren't well developed. Positive: it was an easy read and if it's to be a series, the main characters will probably develop as time goes on.
