Overview

Learning the alphabet has never been so much fun! Each spread features not just one but two, three, or four letters, and words that begin with them. These words—colored to stand out and catch the child’s eye—then appear in an amusing and delightfully illustrated sentence. A, B, C is for ant, berry, cat (“An ant carries a berry past a black cat”), while X, Y, and Z reveal that “A xylophone is played by a yak and a zebra.”

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
This ABC book uses words to make a little story/explanation to accompany each scene. In the opening spread, an ant carries a berry past a black cat. The letters of the alphabet are featured on one side, and each lower case letter is set out in white against a colored background. Sometimes, the sentences are nonsensical like "a frog and gorilla make their home in an igloo." (Not something that would ever happen.) The word featured on the left hand side is also highlighted in white under the illustration. The alphabetic sequence is maintained, and that is a plus. I wonder if the author could have tried the same approach using just animals instead of the few objects that are interspersed with the animals. This is an attractive and sturdy board book.
