a must-have for poets and poetry lovers

Czeslaw Milosz brings a clear ear and a fine intelligence to the selection of poems in this remarkable anthology. In a culture where people are more apt to buy a collection assembled by a radio personality and called "Good Poems" than the works of individual poets, here at least is an anthology that could be called (if one wanted to trivialize it) "Great Poems." I have purchased a number of copies of this book over the last decade, to give as gifts, and it never disappoints. Here's a collection that ranges through centuries and across continents and always holds new discoveries every time I read it. I am a sucker for the word "luminous," I must admit, but here's a work that earns that word in its title.

    fantastique!!!!!

I truly enjoyed this collection of poetry. As a fervent lover of minimalist, minituarist poetry, and as a poet striving to achieve it, the anthology delights me with so many luminous things that come from anything but life itself.

    This book is Awesome

I think that this book of poems, is an awesome collection and there should be more like this in the future, I am a 'Dark' poet, a gothic poet.. so, some of these poems are really cool, i think that there should be more of it...
