This book is meant to help that author take the next step: to create a real book to keep...

Overview

Many manuscripts submitted to publishers are not suitable for commercial publication. They may be too personal, the interest in them too localized, or they may simply be unlikely to appeal to a wide enough market for a publisher to consider handling them. But this doesn't mean that the author needs to accept that he or she will never see the book in print.

This book is meant to help that author take the next step: to create a real book to keep and treasure, and even to distribute to its audience - be it family or friends or those members of the general public who are particularly interested. It tells the writer how to identify that audience, and how best to present the manuscript for that group - and in what form; it discusses many of the basics of the book-design and production process; it gives alternative formats for those producing one copy or a thousand copies; and it provides tips for those who might also wish to present their books for sale to the public.
