This collection of personal stories captures a range of experiences and emotions highlighting the very best and very worst of times gleaned from more than 12 years' worth of adventures in the great outdoors. Incredible close-up, intimate encounters with wildlife, harrowing brushes with danger, the challenges of wilderness camping with small children, and moments of intense splendour and serenity are told in descriptive detail and illustrated with breathtaking photography.

Editorial Reviews

Thunder Bay Chronicle-Journal
...a beautifully put together book...
From the Publisher
It's been more than 50 years since Ely, Minn.-based writer and game-changing conservationist Sigurd Olson's The Singing Wilderness popularized wilderness tripping by evocatively describing the simple charms of canoe-camping in the Boundary Waters. In the same vein, Blazino makes the Quetico wilderness accessible to readers—creating enthusiasm and making a passionate, first-hand argument for the restorative powers of nature.

Author of The Happy Camper and Dazed but Not Confused - Kevin Callan
A great read. To me it's more than a collection of chapters about Canoe Country, it's a collection of thoughtful impressions or feelings about the place that are all interwoven and create one storybook. It creates enthusiasm for the park - and that I really like.
