No one really knows what men or women in the military go through when they return from Afghanistan. Ms. Ashgrove seems to be able to reach into the soul of our hero and see the depths of pain he has seem and dealt with and what he is going through now. Especially as he comes back injured and ashamed of what he did over there.
Kyle Garland, Delta Force special ops, divorces his wife Aimee to protect her. Aimee having gone through a miscarriage earlier isn’t going to give up on her husband. Aimee, although now an ex-wife is still very much in love with her husband and isn’t going to give up quietly. She wants answers and when Kyle’s best friend won’t give them to her she decides she will find those answers herself. Something happened over there that changed that man she loves and she wants answers.
In the meantime Kyle has to deal with the Christmas holidays and the nurturing and comfort of his ex. Will it be enough to mend the mental and physical scars that he is carrying around? In order to heal he must confront the ghosts and secrets.
A BROKEN CHRISTMAS is one exceptional book! I can hardly describe the feelings that Ms. Ashgrove put into this story. What a wonderful job with the characters, so much so that you felt the pain that Kyle and Aimee had dealing with the scars and the love that they still felt for each other. What a wonderful impact she had with the depth of emotion that our military people go through. I wanted to read more and was sorry to see the story end. A very satisfying emotional story, that everyone who reads will immediately fall in love with.
