Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Lisa Colozza Cocca
Stella is back and as sweet and spunky as ever. In this title, the fourth book in the "Stella Batts" series, the third grader deals with multiple cases of the meanies. Joshua, the meanest boy in Stella's class, invites everyone in their class to his birthday party—everyone except Stella. To make matters worse, the party is being held in Stella's family's candy store, Batts' Confections. At school, Stella is excited to hear the teacher assign writing a short story. After all, there is nothing Stella enjoys more than writing. Even a writing assignment makes Stella feel like a victim of the meanies though when the teacher tells Stella her outline needs more work. As always, Stella's patient and supportive parents help Stella work through her problems and avoid catching a case of the meanies. In the end, Stella becomes the hero of the party and a big sister once again when her mother gives birth to a baby boy. Stella fans will be excited to see another addition to the series and the title is likely to add to Stella's fan base. Reviewer: Lisa Colozza Cocca

This book is not just for girls.  My boys love it.  My kindergartener loves listening to me read it, and my 2nd grader gets lost in it on his own.  Such a clever, witty series.  A great find.
