I received this little book as a gift from my husband (a cradle Catholic), at a time when I was not even considering converting. Not that I was opposed to reading Catholic books, I was interested and open to it. This tiny hard cover book intrigued me because it talked about how women are treasured by God, given specific gifts, and that we have a specific mission and purpose. Also, I think this book helped me understand how I can turn to the Blessed Mother, Mary, when I'm confused or need help. She understands. It's an ideal gift for a bridal shower or birthday. It's also an easy way to evangelize -- it's not intimidating, you don't have to be a scripture scholar to understand it, it's very approachable. Includes quotes from the saints and others, prayers, Scripture, excerpts from the Catechism, and Donna-Marie's own experiences in brief devotional chapters. After a long journey, I completed RCIA this year and came into the Church at Easter. This little book was one of the steps along that road. Thank you Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle for your ministry and this helpful book!

In a world that sends conflicting messages to women about the value of their femininity, finding the means to encourage holy womanhood is a particularly needed work of grace. Fortunately for us, Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle has found a way to impart this grace to all women in her pocket-sized book, "A Catholic Woman's Book of Prayers." By combining quotes from Scripture and saints with her own personal reflections and prayers, Cooper O'Boyle has created a thoroughly encouraging book for woman of all ages and in all stages of life. My favorite chapter is the one titled "The Mission of Women." In this chapter Cooper O'Boyle assures her readers that by sheer virtue of being born a woman they have been entrusted with the extraordinary mission of caring for the human being, and that this mission can be lived out at home while raising children, for example, in a school or a hospital while caring for the needs of others, or in a myriad of different capacities according to one's willingness to serve God out of love. The profoundly lasting message of Cooper O'Boyle's book is that womanhood is a precious gift, a joy that God has given to each individual woman and to the entire human family. Along with its encouraging message and carry-along size, the book's attractive design makes it the perfect choice for a meaningful gift. I recommend purchasing several copies to have on hand for gift-giving occasions throughout the year.

""My prayers with the Lord are my personal loving conversation with Him."---this is probably my favorite sentence in "A Catholic Woman's Book of Prayers". It sums up Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle ---as a woman, as a Catholic, and as a child of God. She leads us on the path to God through all aspects of a woman's life. She lovingly shares that path with ALL women, using Scripture and the teachings of Saints to help each woman discover their unique role in the kingdom of God. Thank you, Donna-Marie, for this wonderful treasure. It's powerful!! Lindia Lentz

Donna-Marie writes another fantastic "little" book to encourage women in our particular vocation to bring God to others clothed in our femininity! There is a prayer and reflection for every hardship and blessing a woman could encounter and the snippets of wisdom from the saints provide just that little nugget of understanding or encouragement that a woman might desperately need in order to take the next step through her day offered to Jesus. It comes packaged in a really inviting little hardcover that makes you want to keep it as your companion as you run about your day to grab a moment to pray amidst all hustle and bustle. Donna-Marie is an endless source of encouragement for women today and her tireless devotion to supporting us is a great gift from God. Through her inspiring words, women can hear the words of Blessed John Paul II in his Letter to Women, "Thank you women who are mothers,. wives,. daughters,. sisters,.women who work,. who are consecrated,.every woman for being a woman!" There are so many seasons in a woman's life when it is hard to sit down and read a full book that will provide you with inspiration. This book is a little gem that will carry you through those blessedly busy seasons with a treasure trove of inspiration from her own experience coupled with the deep well of endless encouragement from the Scriptures, the saints and our Holy Church.

Reading "A Catholic Woman's Book of Prayers," by Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle is as delightful as an intimate visit with a wise and holy friend. A wife and mother of five children, Mrs. O'Boyle has packed this small volume with jewels of love, insight and holy wisdom culled from her own experiences, Church documents, scripture, saints and more. This treasure trove of brief quotations, prayers, and meditations is at once a call to prayer and service, and a gift of great consolation to women struggling to live complex and demanding lives in the abiding peace of Jesus Christ. With our world in crisis and so many influences that tear at the natural dignity of women, this small text is a resounding affirmation of the transformative and revelatory power of a life lived as God intends. With great tenderness and a palpable fondness for her sisters in Christ, Mrs. O'Boyle affirms, above all, the great God-given beauty, joy and privilege of being a woman.

This is a little prayer book that easily fits in my purse. There are prayers, though I would rather call them lessons for several situations in a woman's life. Challenges and joys and many more! She has combined in her simple, beautiful way help, prayers and lessons from many great Saints, the Catechism as well as personal prayers. This is a book that I can look through over and over and never get bored. Thank you again for an amazing, little companion to my prayer life!

Great for busy women, but also with enough "meat" to foster good devotional time. It would make a great companion for a discussion group. I found myself dog-earing favorite pages and was pleasantly surprised that it was, in fact, possible to read through it as an actual book (it flows), though you wouldn't have to.
