More About This Book

Overview

Michael Mann's second book is a partial autobiography basically covering his first 21 years of life. These years were dominated in part by his passion for sports and his efforts to excel as a middle, long distance, and cross country runner.

Ultimately, those efforts failed for a number of reasons, to the point of him turning from a nationally ranked junior runner to an invalid for the rest of his life. The book A Change in Appearance explains all these reasons in detail, including how he was forced to adjust to the severe changes not only in his body but in his entire life, and how he views them today.

Although he was never an optimist by nature, Michael is optimistic about his capability to be more satisfied and content with life as the decades go by. Research proves that people are actually happier as they grow older. But in order for him to experience that, he needs to deal with his past in a constructive way.

Meet the author's parents as well as his coach and teammates from the running club where he once trained. Michael's story begins in Israel in 1970.

Michael Mann received his bachelor's degree in physical education from William Paterson College in New Jersey. He currently lives in Israel and his hobbies include music, reading, and travelling. His first book Ties and Knots was published in 2012 and he is now working on his third book.
