Sweet little story about a child who looses her mother in 1928 at about the age of 10. It is written in first person style. She has older and younger sisters who are sent to live with another family member or go off on their own, while Hope stays behind with her 2 brothers and ne'r do well father in their hardscrabble farm. The narrative follows Hope as she moves away to live with various other families, and finally meets and marries a young man and raises her own family. This is a very nice, feel good story of overcoming hard times in the 30's and 40's. It seems to be a very realistic portrayal of country and small town life. Was this review helpful?
