I recommend this book for teachers and parents who would like to read A Christmas Carol to their children but don't want the length or depth of the original version.

Was a little worried whether it would be to complex and scary for our 7 and 9 year olds, but found it very fun and enjoyable to read and share. They stayed very interested, and it was fun to read as an adult. It also didn't cause nightmares--which I thought it would. A great read for adults to children of this age.

My 2nd grader LOVED this book, and devoured the chapters in just a few days. the book was absorbing, and really helped with her moral development. While the movie was a little graphically intense, the classic story remains important, and relevant for young children, and this book is a great bridge for those who are old enough to learn from the story, but too young for the sometimes frightening images of the new Disney film.

My third grade students read this book before seeing it as a class in the movies. They loved comparing and contrasting the book and the movie afterwards.

the christmas carol is a very moving story... although it may be scary for some children. it has alot to do with death, and has some scary ghost scenes in the movie. i think that if you would like to see this movie... read the book first... the book and movie are just alike and i will enjoy to see people reading and watching both. ;)
