Editorial Reviews

Cheryl Malandrinos
Sarah Fanum is thrust into the middle of the Revolutionary War. Having lost both her parents, she ends up volunteering for the Continental Army. More tragedy awaits her, but perhaps it will also lead to a new future.

This is a moving story of one woman's journey to find where she belongs after her life is turned upside down. Lynn Hubbard's attention to historical detail is outstanding. This short story also includes historical photos and maps.

Meet the Author

I have been writing for over tens years and published for two. I have a twisted sense of humor and try to empart that into my writing. I am a sucker for happy endings.

Unfortunately I don't have much time to read, but when I do, I enjoy non-fiction books as well as fiction. I am currently reading a book on K2, the second tallest mountain in the world.

My favorite book series is Trixie Belden. Trixie was my best friend growing up and we still visit from time to time.

I have two very creative and talented sons, and three dogs.

I live in rural Georgia and love it!

Not your typical uplifting Christmas story. This takes place during the Revolutionary War. I would classify this as a Historical Fiction rather than a holiday tale. It was still a good short read and it is FREE. The main character's story carries over into another novel by this author. Unfortunately, it is not available for nook at this time.

    Good historical short story

58 pages Well written and holds your attention to the end. This was not only about a fight for freedom but also about the women who supported it and suffered as well. Good short read. **

    Did not care for

This book was based in fact. The history depicted was pretty well on the money. The editing was okay. It was not a very uplifting book for me and I really cannot classify it as a Christmas Story. This is a very unsettling book and was very sad. If you read it, you may need a tissue or three. It was well written. I would have given it more stars if it not been descibed as a Christmas Story, been longer, not so jerky in presentation and had more character development. When I read Christmas stories I want something that makes me feel good, not depressed. It is short.
