“YOU ARE INVITED TO MEET THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST . . .”

In modern-day London, cynical reporter Jason Burke greets his current assignment of covering the Christmas Candlelight Tours with all the “Bah Humbug!” of a true Ebenezer Scrooge. Then a cryptic invitation takes him to the historic Simmons Hotel, where the “ghost” of lovely Annie Simmons leads him on a haunted, poignant tour of the deserted mansion. At once Jason is captivated by his ethereal tour guide, especially when the forlorn beauty tells him that she died on the hotel staircase in 1852, when she learned that her true love deserted her.

Soon Jason is transported back in time to meet the real Annie Simmons as a flesh-and-blood woman, and to experience firsthand the wonders of celebrating Christmas with her in Dickens’s England. But Jason finds he has arrived at a juncture in time only weeks before Annie will die! He has been warned that his time here will be limited, and he fears Annie is under the spell of a rival, a cad who will surely betray her and cause her death! In order to rescue Annie, Jason must resurrect his own nobler nature and recapture the true spirit of Christmas. Can Jason save Annie in time for Christmas? Or will his new-found love for her doom her instead?

Imagine traveling back in time. To a time when Charles Dickens was first telling his tale of Christmas ghosts. A Christmas in Time is a beautiful story about a cynical man who feels trapped in his career. While doing an unwanted assignment in London, he is transported back in time and quickly finds himself falling in love with a woman he feels destined to save, but could his love be her undoing?

I adored this story. There is something magical about an 1800s Christmas tale. A Christmas in Time by Eugenia Riley had the perfect elements. Riley paints a beautiful picture with her words, describing everything in perfect detail and using language that is fitting of the time period. I highly recommend this novella to anyone that loves historical romance or holiday romance.

Recommend for a light afternoon with a cup of tea!

This is a "nice" story. But that doesn't mean it is without a couple of racier moments. I find the characters dealing with a different time, morals and standards of deportment than their own, an interesting change of perspective on our time and the 19th century. Life may have seemed simpler but was in many ways more complex. The 19th century characters tended to the stereotypes but this is no great literary tome. A sweet story, easy to read and not taxing on the brain.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Whisks you away to another place and time. A sweet tale of love lost and found with a bit of steamy romance thrown into it. If you love stories that include fantasy, paranormal events, time travel and romance, this one is for you. Well written and edited. I plan to read more by this author.

    Interesting time-travel romance

Dragged a bit at times. Too short for much character development.
