All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The soundtrack to A Cinderella Story should tide Hilary Duff fans over until the release of her second album: Duff and her sister Haylie contribute almost half the songs on the album, including their cute duet version of the Go Go's' "Our Lips Are Sealed." This song and Haylie's solo spotlight, "One in This World," showcase the older Duff sister's slightly richer pipes, but -- not surprisingly, since she is the film's Cinderella -- Hilary gets the more ear-catching tunes. "Anywhere But Here," which comes from her debut solo album, presents the sugary-sweet persona of Metamorphosis, but newer songs like "Girl Can Rock," "Now You Know," and, especially, "Crash World" display a little more edge and depth while still remaining appropriate for a teen pop singer like Duff and her audience. Kaitlyn's "Friend" and Mya's "Fallen" add to the album's frothy sweetness, which is complemented by sensitive-boy tracks like Jesse McCartney's "The Best Day of My Life," Josh Kelley's "To Make You Feel My Love," and Edwin McCain's "I'll Be." MXPX, who seem determined to replace Sugar Ray as the most ubiquitous soundtrack band, round out the album with "First Day of the Rest of Your Life." A Cinderella Story is an admittedly lightweight but solidly entertaining soundtrack that delivers exactly what its audience wants from it.

I liked this cd but,if anyone has seen the movie, when austin ames is running from the final football game to meet up with sam in the crowd, they play a song that is pretty cool and it doesnt come out on the cd.instead of putting unimportant songs like the girl can rock by hilary duff, that weird song didnt even come out on the movie!

I think this was a great CD. Espicially if you like her debut album Metamorphosis. It has upbeat tunes that are really nice to listen to anytime of day. I reccomend this CD for ages 12-17

Crash World is the best song on this CD. Haylie's solo effort is also good. The remake of Our Lips Are Sealed is a catchy tune too. Buy this and see the movie too!!! If you wanna.

I love this cd it's so awsome and anyone who doesn't agree had better get some hearing aids cos this cd is powered with some of today's most talented artists. Hilary Duff is great and her newest cd is great so go out and buy it (it's a lot better than her first(which i also love)but her newest cd has a more rock sound to it) Some of my favorite songs from this soundtrack are "Girl Can Rock" by Hilary Duff, Beautiful Soul and The Best Day Of My Life, which are both by Jesse McCartney (Go out and buy his cd too it's great!!!)

I honestly would classify this soundtrack as "kid pop". The songs are so one dimensonal, and not at all complex. The whole sister act Haylie and Hilary try to pull off is lame.Their voices are pretty much the same, except Hilary's is a little bit more girly and higher. The vibes I'm getting from this CD is just that the artists are trying too hard to fit in and be cool. How they put the song "Fallen" on the tracklist is odd because it's a hip-hop sounding song, and it doesn't fit into the theme of the rest of the songs. This isn't real music. Real music is where there is a different selection of instruments being played, or the artists actually feel what they're singing. Jesse McCartney, the ex Dream Street boy basically sings songs that are about puppy love (definetly not real love, cause i doubt he has actually fallen in love befor)or having a good time. A whole bunch of actors from Disney Channel are moving into the music business- Linsay Lohan, Raven, Hilary Duff, (of course) Hayden Padette, and the girls of Pixel Perfect. All of their voices are okay, but i kinda wish that they'd all sing something different, rather than "falling in love", having crushes, having a good time, or partying. It gets boring after a while.

I loved the soundtrack so much! I also saw the movie and it's my favorite movie, but my only problem was that there were a few songs that were in the movie but weren't on the soundtrack--like the song that was playing when they were in the costume shop looking for a dress for Sam (Hilary Duff) to wear to the homecoming dance.
