Overview

RWA Golden Heart Winner, Best Regency Romance

Governess seeking position with many young girls--and no handsome lords.

Maeve longs to find a place where she can belong, and forever hide herself. But she winds up making a deal with Lord Rothe--she'll look after his sixteen-year-old niece until she can find a new position. She's soon caught up in the lives of this troubled girl, and this troubled lord.

How can she leave this family that needs her so much?

How can she stay when she is falling in love with a man far above her lowly position?

Lord seeking governess to tame his niece—and teach him how to love again.

A younger son, he was meant for a military career and he's made himself into a hard army man. But now he is Lord Rothe, with a title he never wanted, relatives who resent him, and a desperate need for Maeve's help.

But will he lose her due to her stubborn determination to make everyone follow orders...and to a heart which has forgotten how to love?

Rakehell.net - Cybil Solyn
I can't say enough good things about this book except BUY IT! I don't care what type of book you usually like, good writing is good writing and this book is sure to find a permanent place on your keeper shelf. Bottom Line: Shannon Donnelly is a stunning new talent not to be missed. She rivals Carla Kelly in her uniqueness of plot and depth of characters.
Romantic Times - Teresa Roebuck
Ms. Donnelly pens an amusing and heartwarming tale about these two lonely adults who struggle to overcome some imagined or real flaw, and who finally arrive at true happiness.

Clean Romance and a fairly good read

This story about a 16 yr old who acts out, seeking the attention of her stoic/harsh uncle and depressed mother, and the governess who is hired to tame the teen, is a relatively good read. Enough editing faux pas that the reader is distracted, though. Occasionally the characters' fretting over "the past" is overly dramatic and unrealistic. The end is wrapped up so quickly that it feels rushed. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book. The romance in this book is appropriate for ages 16+.

    Decent story

There was a good story line and i enjoyed the reactions of the characters to the behaviors of the other characters. The book said it was 866 pgs however it skipped almost every other page. That drove me crazy.

    Nice read

Makes one glad to live in a time when women are not so easily "ruined" ....how unfair it was. A good story of pain, hope, family, friendship....and the healing power of it all combined. All together, an enjoyable story of regency England.

Really liked it. Full book, too.

Well written, characters stayed in character, even a couple interesting twists in the plot. Well done.

    Highly Recommended

I enjoyed this story. Even when a lady reaches a lower position a prince charming appears. Mistakes of a young woman become regrets but a man worthy of her saw beyond those mistakes. Love it and have read it twice
