Are you guilty of negative thoughts towards yourself? I call this "stinkin' thinkin'" and I am guilty for sure! As I have gotten older and grown in my walk with the Lord, I have learned how VITAL it is to apply Gods Word when I am thinking negatively towards myself! This devotional is phenomenal in teaching you just that… at the end of each devotion, there is a "When I say this….  God says … " and let me tell you… These are AWESOME!!

The devotions are great as well! Renee has an amazing way to write and make you feel like you were having coffee right there with her. She is open, honest, and spoke right to my heart in these devotions.

This would be a WONDERFUL gift for ANY and ALL women you know! Teachers, Caretakers, Friends and Neighbors, Co-workers, Bank tellers… You get my drift ;) Seriously, this is a GREAT book and I recommend it HIGHLY!!

Thank you Lanette @Revell, a division of Baker Publishing for allowing me this complimentary book in exchange for my honest review!

    A Confident Heart Devotional gets a HUGE 5 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥'s from me!

Renee Swope in her new book, ¿A Confident Heart Devotional¿ publ

Renee Swope in her new book, “A Confident Heart Devotional” published by Revell gives us a devotional for 60 Days to Stop Doubting Yourself.

From the Back Cover:   Confident, strong, and free–it’s closer than you think

We all have doubts, fears, and insecurities, even if we’ve convinced ourselves that other women don’t share those struggles. If you’re tired of feeling like you’re not good enough, smart enough, or gifted enough, Renee Swope has a message for you: you already have something special to offer the world!

Expanding on her popular “When I say–God says” statements, Renee offers you a daily thought-map to help exchange your most common self-doubts for God’s transforming truths. Her authentic style and soul-stirring devotions include personal stories, powerful biblical teaching, and real-life application wrapped around one of God’s promises each day to help you

live confidently in your God-given roles, relationships, and responsibilities
break free from people-pleasing and performance-based living
trust the certainty of God’s truth over your circumstances and emotions

Take a step toward the life of faith God designed for you and let this sixty-day journey to a confident heart be your guide.

Let’s face it we all have our doubts ranging in size from little to incredibly huge.  The Dictionary defines “doubt” as:  “to be uncertain about; consider questionable or unlikely; hesitate to believe”.  Once we doubt then we are either slow to action or we don’t do anything at all; we become immobilized.  We need help to deal with our doubts, overcome them and move on in our lives and be pro-active rather than reactive as well.  Renee Swope has provided a devotional to help us.

“A Confident Heart Devotional” gives us 60 devotionals to re-focus our attention on God and away from those things that cause our doubts so that we can be renewed and refreshed.  Within these pages are the means we need to renew our mind and be transformed from doubters to faith-filled believers.  Each daily devotional has a prayer at the end as well as a special section”  When I say… God says…  It won’t take you long to read this whole book through.  This is one book you will be returning to over and over again.  It is also a great gift to give to friends and family to help them with their doubts.  I recommend this book highly.

I consider myself a pretty confident person, sometimes overconfident and prideful. So would I get out of a book that was about how to be more confident?

As I read I realized that often times my confidence is misplaced in myself. I place a lot of my confidence in my own talents and gifts instead of placing my confidence in God's ability to work through me.

It's a subtle difference but it was the main thing that I got out of this book. It is written to women who struggle with doubting themselves and is the companion devotional of the book with the same name. I found each devotion to be like a shot in the arm of correctly placed confidence for the day. Encouragement for me to not look at my surroundings and worry, but to look to my God and be at peace.

I enjoyed this book even though I had not read the original book, A Confident Heart. I think both of them can stand alone. In reading this devotional it made me want to know more of the author's story and how she arrived at this point. She mentions her journey and struggles personally but each day's devotional is only a few pages so she doesn't elaborate as much as she probably does in the other book. She also adds stories from her friends and those who she's interacted with on her website/blog.

I would recommend this for any woman, but it would be particularly helpful for someone who struggles with self-doubt in big or small ways. Available November 2013 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
