A Conservative's Primer on the Bibleby Bob Ward
This book is a rational attempt to document what is referred to in the Bible as worshipping "in truth". The approach is to first convince the reader that the Bible is the true word of God; that is is infallible; and that it is the only source of God's message to man that we are ever to get. With that accomplished, the scriptures are used to describe God's attributes, often by showing how God dealt with the various characters and peoples in events recounted in the Bible. Still using only scriptures to develop the narrative, it goes into God's selection of a particular people to prepare future Christians for the fulfillment of His plan for mankind. The need for salvation is revealed, and Jesus is presented to deliver salvation, to the eternal exaltation of Jesus. The conversion process whereby one goes from lost sinner to saved saint is described.

Reviewed by Darin Godby for Readers' Favorite Bob Ward does a wonderful job of helping the reader move along the pages of this book to understand the purpose, power and spirit of the Bible. His main point is that you must believe the Bible entirely; if not nothing within his book will truly make sense. Bob begins by proving the Bible and its importance. When that foundation is laid, he continues to explore different features such as God's people, the need for salvation, how the Church functions, and some comparisons. "A Conservative's Primer on the Bible" is a very well-written book that many would enjoy reading and being stretched by. Every point that Bob makes he backs up with verses of Scripture to indicate that he isn't just putting words to paper; rather he has a reason for writing what he does and emphasizes his beliefs and views for his readers. This book may not be for everyone; for instance,it is not for those who dispute the importance and soundness of the Bible. But this is a book that the believer should read to help them remain strong and faithful in their beliefs. I appreciate the convictions of Bob and how he is willing to share his views and do so with strong emphasis. Wouldn't you rather support someone stands for what they feel is the truth than to never take a stand at all? I do and therefore I believe this is a fine book and one worth the reader’s time and attention.
Reviewed by Brenda Casto for Readers' Favorite "A Conservative's Primer on the Bible" is a book that takes a simplistic approach to explaining the Bible. The author touches on such topics as who is God, why we should believe the Bible is God's word, what God expects of his followers, and the role of the church, just to name a few. A solid read that will allow anyone, Christian or not, to understand God's word, and perhaps build a firm foundation in which to begin their spiritual quest. As someone who studies my Bible daily, I often find it hard to digest, so when I started reading this book, my expectations was of a scholarly book that just might put me to sleep. Well, instead of that I felt as if I had stumbled onto a lively discussion about one of my favorite topics: The Bible! Mr. Ward's casual writing style makes the reader feel at ease and allows for an easy and enjoyable reading experience. Yet even in his casualness it is obvious that Mr. Ward is well-versed in the Bible and the topics he is discussing. While he does state his opinion, he pairs that opinion with scriptures so that the reader can turn to their Bible for deeper understanding. Because the author deals with issues such as "who is God?," and "why should we believe the Bible is God's word?," this book would be perfect for someone who wants to know more about God and his word. A more seasoned Christian will also find this book an interesting read because of the topics the author has covered. Overall, Mr. Ward has provided a down to earth, easy to understand book that helps explain the Bible and God's plan for salvation. Whether the reader agrees with everything the author says or not, "A Conservative's Primer on the Bible" will have the reader thinking about God's word and perhaps about where they want to spend eternity.
Reviewed by Kristie Ingerto for Readers' Favorite “A Conservative’s Primer on the Bible: Spiritual Emphasis on Understanding the Bible, the Gospel, Salvation, and the Role of the Church,” written by Bob Ward, is an in-depth, yet easily read and understood, collection of thoughts and truths designed to provide the reader with more knowledge of and insight into the most widely published book of all time, the Holy Bible. Ward’s book is divided into thirteen chapters and each chapter is well-defined. The book begins with a chapter devoted to proving the Bible, and then a chapter discusses who God really is as these two chapters are foundations to Christianity. Other chapters focus on salvation, the church and the importance of the church, church officers and church functions. Each of these chapters is well-researched and filled with verses from the Bible that are explained in detail. I grew up attending Sunday School and church and attended a Christian, Bible-believing college for my undergraduate study and I found myself being reminded of so many of the truths that I have learned through the years, but also learning many new things as well. I really like the author’s style of writing throughout this book. He is very candid and to the point; therefore, it was not an overwhelming task to read it. It does not have a judgmental tone, but it teaches or hopes to guide the reader to gain more knowledge. This is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the basic premises of Christianity, especially for those wanting to be a part of a church that truly reflects the design of the church that God intended.
