Layne Mabrey is on the run.

Determined to hide their Down Syndrome daughter from the world, her ex-husband wants to have six-year-old Chloe institutionalized, but Layne will go to any lengths to keep her child.

Dex Beckett immediately falls in love with both Layne and Chloe, but Layne can't afford to get close to anyone--not even the shy, gentle cowboy next door. She and Chloe have to be ready to run at any moment.

Concerned that Chloe's sudden creation of an imaginary friend could be used to substantiate her father's claims, Layne is shocked when Dex offers an unbelievable opinion about the child's invisible visitor.

But there's more to Heart's Haven than meets the eye. Is it possible a Christmas miracle awaits Layne and Chloe on the Heart's Haven Angel Tree?

For a short story, A Cowboy Christmas by Tanya Stowe and Delia Latham provides a satisfying read that is far from short on character development and plot! Layne Mabrey finds herself on the run when she learns that her ex-husband wants to put their six-year-old daughter Chloe in an institution. He thinks that because she has Down's Syndrome that an institution is the only place she should be. Layne isn't going to let that happen so they are running, and that's how they wind up living next door to Dex Beckett, a handsome cowboy who captures not only Layne's heart but Chloe's as well. However, because they need to run at a moment's notice, Layne knows there is no hope for a future. With Christmas magic in the air, will one little girl's Christmas wish come true?

A Cowboy Christmas is a short story that packs plenty of story into its pages. Tanya Stowe and Delia Latham create interesting characters who are well developed and a plot that doesn't feel rushed; instead I felt like I had actually read a full-length story. Chloe was such a delightful, yet realistic child. Instead of being perfectly cute, we see her emotional ups and downs which made her much more endearing. Instead of focusing on the fact that Chloe was a special needs child, the author created a normal child that just happened to have Down's Syndrome. The imaginary friend added another layer to the story. The romance that developed between the main characters was sweet and will leave readers longing for a Dex of their own! While there is a Christmas feel to the story, I honestly wouldn't hesitate to read this one any time of the year. Perfect for a quick afternoon read. Fans of good clean reads will certainly enjoy this book, a feel-good story that left me wanting to read more from these authors!
