Sexy, independent, corporate executive Casey Harrington's life and career were shaped by a childhood Christmas wish left unfulfilled. Now, twenty years later on a Colorado cattle ranch, she finally gets everything she's always wanted-both a hot cowboy and a dream job.

But Bonner "Blue" Boyd is a rancher and Casey is a New Yorker, and even if the sex between them is hot enough to start a prairie fire, they both know that city and country might mix for a week, but it can't work for a lifetime. Or can it?

When a dramatic turn of events reunite Bonner and Casey, this time on her turf in her city, she has to prove to her displaced cowboy he belongs with her, no matter where they end up. Luckily Casey knows the quickest way to a man's heart is slightly lower than his stomach.

Casey accepts a job offer to work for her favorite company Maverick Western due to her childhood fascination with Cowboys. The deal is though that she has to spend a week living like a rancher to get the job. So it's off to Colorado where cellphones don't work and chance to get online is nonexistent. Bonner Blue Boyd is a former Rodeo Champion, now a ranch manager for the owner of Maverick Western, Jake Maverick, it's his job to show Casey the ropes - of course when Casey turns out to be a woman and a fine woman at that things get a little sticky, see there¿s a code on how to handle these situations but it doesn't help that Casey's flirting and insinuating something he's been dying to try out. So what will it be, job and honor or one hot girl in the sack? I'll say it again Cat Johnson is one of my favorite authors! Her stories are sizzling hot, emotional, funny, witty and so easy to get lost in! Johnson's writing is excellent, and let's face it to make the story good the writing has to melt in the pages and transform into a world in your head and Johnson writing sure does just that - after which it is so easy to believe the plot, invest in the characters and the story. The plot was interesting and didn't give you an easy way out so that the couple could end up together... there was no way it could work and then something happens and... well you'll just have to read the book to figure it out. ;) I liked the fact that this book starts in October and end s up with a December finale - this way it's not just a Christmas story but a story you can read any day of the year! I loved the corporate shark marketing director with a western fetish, cowboy boots, plaid comforters and cast iron skillets getting down and dirty in the ranch without question. She could have easily been annoying if she'd been afraid of little dirt ( I do get the spider freak out in the outhouse, I mean no girl likes those! ) but she wasn't and it made her awesome! Blue was such a joy to read ( not to mention arousing - what? so I have a thing for cowboys ) he's real man's man, boots, faded jeans, not exactly chatty, and used to being in control - which by the way translates to some burning hot encounters in the log cabin for the couple, a guy who takes what he wants the way he wants it and pleasures his lady during it ( fans self ). This book is hot! If you want a christmas read that is full of sexual tension, teasing, real emotions and heartfelt characters then you want to give this a chance!

This book has a strong heroin, a hunky cowboy, a multi-million dollar business, and seriously hot scenes. Excluding the outhouse, this book will make you want to pack your bags and head out to find a ranch to rope your own cowboy. It'll make you laugh, might make you weepy, but you won't want to put it down. It's a great book for any time of year or especially after a holiday when you've decided you've cooked enough! Grab your flannel pajamas and a cup of caffeinated coffee so you don't miss a thing.

RATING 4.5 STARS A Cowboy for Christmas is book one in the Maverick Ranch series by Cat Johnson. When Casey Harrington was eight years old, she stared longingly at the Cowboy Cody doll in the store. It was all she wanted. She told Santa AND wrote him a letter so she was sure he would bring it to her on Christmas morning. But what did she get instead, an easy bake oven. She never did use that little oven. And now, twenty years later, she still doesn’t cook. She still is, though, completely obsessed with all things western. She is now a marketing executive for a bank in New York. Out of the blue, Casey gets a call offering her a job as a marketing executive for a company called Maverick Western. It’s a company that Casey knows well, since she has decorated practically her entire apartment in objects from their catalog. Part of the deal, though, is that for her training, she must travel to Mr. Maverick’s ranch in Colorado for one week and learn what life is like on a working ranch. Bonner “Blue” Boyd runs the Maverick ranch for Jake Maverick. He has known Jake since he was born and this is the only life he knows. It’s the only life he wants. Jake Maverick is like family. He’s closer to him than he is to his own family. The days aren’t long enough with all he has to do each and every day. So he is not happy when he’s told that he will be in charge of Casey Harrington for the full week, allowing Casey to shadow him to learn about life on a ranch. Somehow, Bonner assumed “Casey” was a male name so he couldn’t have been more surprised when he found out otherwise. The first time Casey saw Bonner, she couldn’t believe it. He was the actual life like, walking, talking image of how she remembered Cowboy Cody. The sparks flew immediately between Casey and Bonner. Bonner tries to live by the cowboy code and letting anything happen with Jake Maverick’s new marketing executive would just be wrong. But the attraction between them proves to be too strong. “Bonner and Casey lived in different worlds. City and country.” Bonner and Casey’s week together was magic, except perhaps Casey’s experience with an outhouse! But, when it was time for Casey to go home, they had to say good-bye. They just didn’t fit into each other’s worlds. I loved this book. I have to admit that at first, I didn’t like the blunt way Casey and Bonner expressed their attraction to each other. But when feelings became involved, I fell in love with them. There is a shocking turn of events and I fell in love with them even more. If you know me on Goodreads, you know that I have a definite weakness for sexy cowboys. And this book was perfect for me. These two were completely hot together but sweet at the same time. Add in the Christmas setting and I was a goner. I definitely plan to read book two in this series, Valentine Cowboys.
